my current levelling ideas is: do enough to open up all fragile/expensive/short term, and then pump levels into long distance, then adr, then the other ones, then fuel efficiency when im done. i always pick the best $/km job within reasonable distance except for ferry stuff.

Buy 2 garages very far apart, hire employees, fast travel between the garages. As you get more employees and they get more skills you will make a ton of money. You could probably start this with 1 of the big loans from the bank and a few good jobs.
why should they be far apart?
The game will simulate your journey between the garages. So you'll pass a lot more time the further you have to travel, making more money.

you could also use CheatEngine, but that's taking steps a bit too far
it takes time to fast travel, to simulate driving. So if they are far, more time will pass when it finish loading, and your AI drivers will have done more jobs
Medical vaccines (requires ADR class 6, high-value, fragile) earn the best money per distance.
Fill long distance first, then put one point in ADR class 6, high-value, fragile, and just-in-time. After, go back to fill high-value, fragile, just-in-time. Skip ecodriving: it's useless (literally useless with realistic fuel consumption enabled)
I agree with skipping eco driving. That's the one you fill in because you keep getting points and everything else is maxed.
