4sevens Goliath V2

Anyone have a goliath V2? I'm looking for a compact 1x123 thrower, this seems to fit the bill.

And even more niche, does anyome have the goliath v2 modded by vihnguyen54 with vn2 driver? Does it still work with lithium primaries, or is it strictly a rcr123a only light?

Yup!

I have a Goliath V2 from Vinh in my pocket right now! SST-20 HCRI 3000K about 8kcd and 650 lumens IIRC, so definitely not the throwiest of options. It will still work with lithium primaries it will just be much dimmer (IDK if it's ever been tested, I can compare when I get home tomorrow in my TAtube). It is one of my most carried lights simply due to size. VN2 driver works pretty darn well in the light IMO. I have never used an OG Four Sevens Goliath though....

There are a couple other options FWIW. My favorite light is the D25Cvn (even the regular D25C is pretty solid IMO) and it's white a thrower with a Osram White flat 1 or 2mm in there. This is a little less throwy than the Goliath but hardly anything to baulk at. There is also the TX25C (and as is the trend, Vinh has modded that with White 1mm/ 2mm options too) This is quite a bit more throwy.

I see the Vihn has the goliath offered with a white flat 1, 45Kcd, which is nuts! If you could compare a 123 and rcr cell, please do, I'd be interested in ball-park figures.

The 1xaa and 1x123 format make for some nice, easy to carry lights, and with as efficient as led's have become over the years, they can offer fantastic output. And having a similar format lithium rechargeable have really opened things up!

How do you like the 3000k sst20 at lower drive levels? Does it shift green?

It is definitely nuts. The RRT01vn is also a worthy consideration and it takes 18350s.

There is definitely a green tint, though this one doesn't seem to be as noticeable as some of my other 3000K SST lights. That being said, in use I never notice. FWIW I think lots of people make a bigger deal out of that then it really is, or maybe you are familiar with the SST 3000K

My only high cri light is a hds edc clicky 200 high noon. 219b, beautiful 4kish color temp. Perfect beam of light.

I'm tempted to pick up some lights in both 3k and 4k sst20, and some high cri xpl hi's and see how they compare, and sell off what I dont like.

I dont have much of a collection at the moment, kind of lost touch with the hobby several years ago, now I need a light or two and the options are staggering, lol. I remember when 1k lumens from an LED light was a massive undertaking, and 50kcd from a mag mod aspheric and xr-e q5 or (Rare!!) r2 was the bees knees.

u/spez: took a look at the rrt01vn. Now I'm not sure which to grab, lol.

High noon should be 5700k 219c, not 4k b.

That is a smacking great light though, I adore my HDS (incidentally, my rotary is a 4000K 219b).

I actually have a bunch of HCRI 3000K lights, they may all be XM-L2s, but I think some are XP-Ls. I have quite a fancy for them so uhhhh, definitely hit me up if you end up getting rid of anything HCRI in XM-L/ XP-L variety.

I can't promise tomorrow, but I will attempt to take a picture of all the warm HCRI lights/ beams I have. Come to think of it, there are some great comparison images floating around BLF of a whole bunch of LEDS, I would bet probably done by Muakka...

Did you get a chance to compare outputs with a cr123 and rcr?
