Yeah, but you don't really have the power to run both without sacrificing 1/2 shields, 1/2 engines or your oxygen.
You'll be living dangerously for a while... But you were kinda obligated to buy them.

I dunno, crippling enemy weapon systems about 1.5 seconds into the battle probably doesn't count as living dangerously.

Investing heavily in weapons usually results in a period of very easy sailing. But eventually you'll need a more balanced setup because you'll encounter enemies or situation that can take this level of damage.
I don't know about your crew but boarding parties are going to be hard to deal with without doors or enough power to run the medbay.
The environmental effect that halves your power is also going to be tough.
Zoltan or Rock with a decent engine can also give you a run for your money.
With two shields and practically no engines asteroid fields are also risky if there's anything prolonging the fight.

That's just a normal amount of power. If you can power oxygen all the time, you've got too much and could be using the scrap better.
They can power everything that matters, how is that practically no engines, seriously.

Yeana.
I had 4x laser 2 + pre-igniter on one playthrough. And completely destroyed the final boss like a knife through butter.
Only happened once though. Apart from that shits been rough.
