Academic Leave for Internship

Discussion

Has anybody had any experience in taking time off for work experience. I am not in the engineering co op program but recently got offered a 4 month internship. This would be my first term of work experience and I was wondering if anyone else decided to not join co op and take on work terms through the winter semester. Is the work experience considered for experience during school? Is there any problems with continuing your courses?

Took 16 straight months, one academic year, off to do internships. I emailed engineering student services about it and they just said "Thanks for letting us know". Had no problem registering for courses the year after.

You should be able to take 12 months off with no problems https://academicservices.engineering.ubc.ca/degree-planning/academic-leave/ check with advising though

I think you have to register and pay your fees then drop all your courses.

There's a max I think 6 years to finish your degree so anything less than that should be okay.
