When the Dr. wants everybody to see what happened to you....
Doc, so a few weeks ago a car battery exploded in my face. Happily my wife (on the entire other side of the house) heard the explosion and quickly got me and helped me get into the shower. (as soon as the explosion happened I shut my eyes and kept them shut to prevent more acid getting into them). I flushed my eyes for about 20 minutes and then did it again a little while later as I was starting to panic that I was going to go blind.
The next morning my optho got me in immediately to see him and after a very hilarious eye test he came in to examine me. He was calling out to his assistant who was typing that there were lots of SPKs in my right eye and then he shifted to the left which had been more exposed to the battery and stated 'Wow! a lot of SPKs , also some <cant remember> scarring, OOH you need to see this, this doesn't come around a lot." So she took a peek, the other doctor came in for a look also. Meanwhile I'm just thinking 'it's never a good day when the doctors all want to see what you did to yourself'
No permanent damage thank goodness.
Right after it went BOOM, I considered having my wife dump baking soda into my eyes in addition to the flush. Good idea or good idea I skipped that? I did use a baking soda solution later to neutralize all the acid left over. So much foaming!

Sounds just like my experience when I had a hemorrhoid let go in the middle of the night while out of town for work. I head to the ER and the resident looks at it and says "HMMMMM I need to go get the attending." He leaves with no other explanation.
The attending comes in and looks and says "Ohhh wow I need to go get the surgeon on call." Both leave the room with no explanation.
Now the surgeon comes in and she looks at it and says "Hey do you mind if take some pictures?"
Now I am like WTF?!?!
They eventually tell me that I have to have surgery that day.
A little while after all of this went down a group of about 3 surgeons want to come in and look. I told them the other lady had pictures and they could look at those.
It happens and sometimes that is the only way people will learn something that does not come into the office very often.
Ok wow. Thanks for putting my situation in perspective. That’s a tough way to be the center of attention.
