Where is an ICAC

NOWHERE. The next debate on the ICAC will be on 21st May 2022.

Funny, that's about the same time the next High Speed Rail study is expected to be announced.

haha. I'm kinda hoping there will be a recession, so our political system can reform. Currently the LNP is just too cocky at the moment. They happen to win elections due to them having better talkers, but they have shit policies compared to labor. A recession should spark the light on HSR happening.

What policies?

And the NBN review.

They've referred it to Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity . The ACLEI’s remit is highly limited. It can only examine criminal conduct by law enforcement officials - not ordinary public servants, and particularly not ministers and staffers.

It’s the ideal investigation for political parties worried about their extensive links to a powerful company: completely unthreatening.

It's like asking a cricket umpire to adjudicate a football game - he'll be able to honestly tell you that there were absolutely no wickets bowled.

So a wet lettuce leaf

Crossbench put one forward end of last year (authored by McGowan and Wilkie IIRC?). Voted against by the LNP and put to review by the ALP (which would have gotten back to them after the election, and which they later said they'd ignore anyway).

Not looking hopeful of getting one anytime soon.

They forgot about it after the election, but just like Labor was going to do! People just dont get these politician crooks!

Lambie: "If you've got documents you want to produce to us, and you don't want to be named, I tell you what: we have no fear in standing up in the chamber and calling them out for what is going on here. "

Unfortunately, thanks to our police state, the government and 21 other agencies with access to meta-data will know exactly who you are, who your friends and contacts are, and where you live.

Unless of course a brown envelope appears with "Attn JL" on it. No one remembers how to deal with old fashion shit like that. Just remember to print it on an old Apple Imagewriter or something otherwise those yellow dots might get you. :)

Or write it by hand

Can’t write incriminating documents out though

I'm so happy that Lambie is back. Disagree with her on many of her views, but I respect her integrity and willingness to call out the bullshit.

By this, I mean she's 10 times better than a Hanson or another stinking Lib.

7
drcolossal•

Agree 100%, the only politicians I trust now are on the crossbench, and Lambie is a champion, even though I don't agree with all her views, I like that she has integrity

2
jolard•

Yep. She is one of the better ones...whacky with some of her policies, but unafraid to take on the bull shit

2
superbabe691300 655 506•

She is just someone I can disagree with without hating. Can’t say the same for the vacuous IPA cunts

Good on them.

Crown and politicians are mixing with a seriously dangerous group of people here and this all needs to come out into the open.

Who in the Australian government on either side is actually speaking out against the CCP and its organ harvesting, concentration camps, and foreign influence? Trump seems to be the only one the cares.

10
justanother_bird•

Trump has repeatedly praised the Chinese president and administration

Trump doesn't care either.

10
cjpelican•

What does "foreign influence" mean? Don't we (try to) do the same thing?

I think it would also be a little hypocritical to speak out against these concentration camps as you call them when we have a pretty similar thing going on in our own back yard too? Might be worth fixing those before we go all holier than thou don't you think? I mean I know it's fashionable to be blindly anti China, but it is pretty easy for them to just dismiss it because we're just as corrupt as they are. Hence this thread

[deleted]•

Yeah the corrupt person is the one receiving the bribe, and the villain is the one offering it. Everyone knows China is fucked, but the Australian cops/pollies are the ones pretending to be good while they're on the take, which is far worse imo

2
djshdnfiiwe•

"Blindly anti-China?" ... "Holier than thou?"

Let me get this straight. You're saying I can't discuss the human rights abuses being carried out by the CCP because Australia has a "pretty similar thing going on"?

2
cjpelican•

Not at all. You're free to discuss anything you like. Just as I'm free to discuss the inherent hypocrisy that exists when we accuse other countries (China is where its being directed at present) of doing pretty much what we do. No human rights abuses in Australia then? Do you not agree we probably shouldn't cast stones, so to speak, without being pretty confident we're in the clear if the spotlight was on us?

-1
djshdnfiiwe•

No, I do not agree with you and furthermore I think it's healthy to criticise both the Australian and Chinese governments for human right abuses they are either perpetrating or are responsible for.

2
LastChance22•

Do you want to get raided or bugged Lambie?

Actually, that might actually get people off their arses.

8
mugbluey•

I like her comment "more teeth than jaws" for he model of the corruption commission. Where does she get her creative English from, sometimes shes brilliant.

4
Potman_Potatoes•

They're not morally corrupt, they're just normal corrupt.

5
mugbluey•

More like 3rd world corrupt, and thats insulting Africa they become so good at it here in Australia! We should import Zuma from Serth Aefrica he will tell us how to set up a federal ICAC model thats better for politicians.

2
cjpelican•

We're usually too busy criticising Asian countries for being corrupt
