Has anyone else noticed the weird cycle /r/NBA has when evaluating the Jazz?

r/nba is a cesspool of uneducated nephews. Been avoiding that page like the plague....feels incredible

I've only used it for news over the last year or so. You do that you'll be fine. It's the comments that are terrible. It's the elephant graveyard of sports discussion and you should never go there, Simba. Bunch of cackling hyenas over there.

Takes a strong alpha to brave those depths

100% this.

It's a fun NBA community for news and reactions but not for serious discussion most of the time, unless marked otherwise.

r/nbadiscussion is a much better sub for actually talking basketball, if that helps.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say Gobert is carried by someone else.

I’ve definitely heard people say he is overrated and doesn’t do as well in the playoffs, but not that.

Lots of people consider him an offensive liability.

this take bothers me so much more than "he cant play in the playoffs"

gobert is a monster on offense, he provides 16 on his own and another 12 in screen assists with outrageous efficiency

but he doesnt shoot 28 foot pullups so hes a scrub

He's not an ISO scorer. People generally forget that games are long and there are ways to be impactful other than going 1v5 in the last 4 minutes.

It's true, people fail to realize the value of dunks somehow and degrade his record because he's huge so it's easy to dunk

Motherfucker, if it was so easy to get that many dunks someone would've done it better, but no one has

I don't think that's it. It's that if you're paying a guy like a top tier guy, you want them to be able to take over a game in the last 2 minutes.

Where's the Karl Malone tangent?

Yo

They do this to disparage Stockton and Malone's legacies too. You'll hear, "Well of course Stockton has insane assist numbers, he had Malone to pass to" and then later, "Well of course Malone scored a lot of points, he had Stockton feeding him the ball." Both of those arguments come up all the time over there.

Jazz must have been carried by their role players. Remember how Crowder was better than LMA and was the 38th best player in the NBA?

See this one annoys me way more than all of the other basic ones lol

Twitter as well. It’s so freaking true man

r/NBA knows about the Jazz?

I never go on NBA cuz honestly I don't care enough about other teams to engage in conversation there and I don't want to see people trash my team when they come up. That community has nothing to offer me; I cheer for the Jazz.

Facts lol

In 2019 if you're a traditional center like Gobert, you'll always go through phases of being called overrated. Teams are gonna take a shit ton of threes while you're in, pull you outside with a Gasol like threat, and attack, and then attack the rim when you're on the bench.

He's never gonna contest a lot of threes or be a huge scorer, but that's not his game. But people need to realize if the opponent is gameplanning around him, he's having a huge impact on the game.

I'd like to say that Rudy gobert is 118% the best player on that team.
