CKP/FDC training

General Discussion

Firstly,

Thanks to everyone that has helped me in any way on this subreddit!

I got my start date in November and I’m reading through the forms they’ve sent me and I’ve got a few questions

  1. is there anything I need to take or buy before?
  2. it says ‘You will be issued with a Police Constable Warrant card as soon as practical after your appointment.’ - when will this be?
  3. id ideally like to be based around BCU West/South West but I do like action. Any recommended boroughs?

Thanks

I used to live around the twickenham area so I’d still like to police that area. I’ll put WA as my firs choice.

Thanks.

The nice areas seem great but you'll have a better learning experience going somewhere in a rough area. You'll get a bigger variety of calls and incidents. You've got a SOLAP, or whatever they're called/the Met call them theses days, to complete.

SOROC

Student Officer Record Of Competence

I know you don’t care

To be fair, with the new degree thing, I don't think it's called a SOLAP in any force now

Congrats fella, I’ve just finished up my foundation training and have loved it! For number 1, they recommend you buy a black stones but I haven’t used mine at all besides that there’s not all that much you need before hand. 2) you get your warrant card on the last day of your foundation training so you’ve got to wait a while till you get it. And for 3) I’m off to SW and have heard it’s a little quiet but it’s the Met so you’ll get action regardless of where you end up! Hope this helps!

Congratulations, I start in november myself so will keep an eye on this thread, my 3 BCU's are all east London so I'm sure I'll be plenty busy no matter what one I get but I'm hoping to get Havering 👍

Congratulations! I hope you get your boroughs.

Why Havering?

Convenience, plus it's a very diverse area so will be good for getting experience in a shorter space of time. I've worked in the are for 14 years in the ambulance service so learning the area isn't something else I need to worry about.

I’ve lived in Havering previously and as a borough for policing, it is very q compared to other boroughs. Almost a county division with regard to volume and types of crime. It’s highly residential, meaning lots of domestics and mental health. It has hardly any gang activity to speak of, and NTE is limited to Romford really.

I don’t want to piss all over your plans but in terms of “getting experience in a shorter space of time”, there are far busier and more diverse boroughs.

I thought the borough was pretty lively, that's only going by what I've been involved in Ambulance wise and from what I've seen on my nights etc, I've also asked for Newham area and also Tower Hamlets so I could end up there as well, thanks for the info
