One of those days where I find myself searching the job boards

My coteacher is rude, insensitive, a huge liar over the dumbest things, emotionally erratic and unreliable. I never know which version of her will show up for work that day, or even if she will show up. Mostly I ignore her annoyances, but some days she just really gets under my skin and I feel my blood pressure rise. On top of that, our new assistant acting director started yesterday. She's a compulsive liar and a narcissist. She will tell five different stories in 30 minutes and they are all designed to make the listener think very highly of her. What's worse is that she and my co teacher have been best friends for 12 years, and they never let anyone know The past two days have been such a test.

I had a terribly stressful career before ECE and I told myself never again would I do something where I come home feeling miserable. I realized recently how lucky I was with my center because it was just a really enjoyable place to work, but the future is starting to look bleak. I just spent over an hour checking out job postings, but worried that I'll have a shitty situation in another center, too. I know it's only been two days but ugh. It was just one of those days where I have mentally penned multiple letters of resignation.

Oh man - that post title is a MOOD. I wish I had good advice, but I did want to say hang in there - and if an opportunity is meant to be, it will come to you.

Be patient with yourself and I bet their true colors will show. Hopefully you have found another center or made peace with the situation by then. Sounds like you have a positive attitude with the kids and that is what the field needs.

Also - if you can, start writing down the behaviors that are grievances. There can be some BIG and GOSSIPY personalities in ECE, and generally speaking that attitude can break a center. Have it documented so you can save your ass. Good luck.
