68-Series Promotion Points

Anyone know what’s going on with points this month for the 68s? Whole lot of 798s. I know 68W jumped to 798 from 510ish the month before. First time 68W has been impacted like that in years. Been hearing it’s the fiscal year? Anyone know the real story? Should we be expecting it to stay like this?

I'm going to guess it's 798 because they are at 100% strength for that mos this month

That's a fantastic guess, not substantiated on facts!

Edit: sarcasm. Folks are too literal on the intro-net these days.

Just because your unit maybe short on 68W E5s, that doesn't mean the Army doesn't enough of them.

You don't get magically PCS'd when you get promoted. And if your unit doesn't have any E5 slots open you'll stay in a E4 slot.

It’s because half life 3 was confirmed

Do you know how the promotion system works?

Big army says he wants x number of Soldiers at various ranks. Say next month they want 2 SGT They lower the points to pick up the top two. If they are projected overstrength then they raise them to 798, you can either wait or reclass or get out

Right. But why the sudden drop? Last month there were 84 68Ws bumped to E-5. This month, 1. Your telling me across the Army only 1 E-5 ETS’d, reclassed, made SSG? 50+ made the jump from E-5 to E-6 this month alone. So who is going to fill those slots?

Is the total number of 68-Series slots shrinking for some reason? I thought we were expanding the force?

Or a force reduction/restructure says they don't need 50 new medic e5s this month.

And that’s my question lol. Is there is a medical force restriction going on? Are they shrinking MEDCOM? What’s up?

Getting rid of MEDCOM moving us to FORSCOM. They’re also dropping a lot of MOS like 68B

I feel like you're looking at this from an overly complicated place. They could have just been promoting too many Soldiers. They may have been overstrengthed and just taking a few months to get back to balanced.

Maybe we determined combat flow chart readers don't need as strong a presence in clinics and hospitals and are trying to push them out to the BCTs.

Soldiers go in, Soldiers go out. You can’t explain that.

How many got picked up for SSG? How many selected “promotable SSGs” got promoted to SFC?

After the results of this last SFC board comes out there won’t be any more SSG getting selected for at least 1 year, maybe even 2. So that will bottle neck the whole system Army wide.

The points only went up because you're trying to get promoted.
