Use rare shaders to “bank” glimmer before shadowkeep

SGA

This works especially well for those of us farming Forges for mats. When you cash them in you end up with stacks of rare shaders from EDZ and Nessus. I know they don’t turn into much, 25 glimmer a piece, but just over the last week or so I have enough saved up that will turn into over 10000 glimmer when I cash them in.

Shadowkeep is increasing our glimmer cap, so if you can get to the current cap before that happens, having a bunch of stacks of rare shaders can be a bank of sorts to help you start pushing towards being a filthy rich guardian.

I’ve seen a lot of helpful hints here that are helping me, and anyone else that listens, get prepped for this haunted moon. So since I’ve been doing this little tidbit, I figured I’d share it Incase it helps anyone else out. Obviously it’s not anything groundbreaking, but while you’re saving up cores, shards, tokens, and mats, why not add an extra glimmer stash while you’re at it?

I think people are using the sparrow, “Otherside” right now. I believe it costs 9000 glimmer and 5 shards, when you dismantle it you get 5000 glimmer and the 5 shards back.

Acts a little bit like a bank, I guess. It takes a 4000 glimmer cut, and your shards for collateral? It would be much faster than mass buying and mass dismantling individual shaders though, that’s for sure.

Not a bad deal. Still no reason not to save the rare shaders if you got em. At my current rate I’ll have 5-6 stacks of 300-400 or so each. Which could end up being close to 50k.

5 minutes of Sparrow dismantling for over 1 million glimmer... 5 hours of shader dismantling at Rahool for the same.

I'll take the Sparrow / Ghost / Ship approach!

It costs 7,500 glimmer. So you take a 2,500 hit each time.

It’s not a hit though. What else are you going to spend it on? 2.5 materials from spider?

Spend it or lose it.

I mean, I do know that? I'm not saying anything negative about it. It's better to deposit it than hit the cap and waste it.

That guy had such a unnecessary response lol

And if you've got the Platinum Starling ship it will generate 2500 glimmer at the cost of 3 shards per pull. More useful post Shadowkeep than now, when your Otherside bank dries up.

What even is the glimmer cap nowadays? I'm coming back after having not played for ~9 months, so I'm spending a lot of glimmer & haven't hit the cap yet

100k

It's changing to 250k in October

What’s the conversion ratio - like, invest X glimmer now, withdraw X glimmer later?

We know for spider materials it’s 2:1 - invest 5000 glimmer now, receive 2500 glimmer later - and I’ve seen someone calculate sparrows as 1.5:1 (but I might remember wrong).

So, what is it for blue shaders today?

If you acquire them from farming Forges or other means other than buying them from collections, there is no conversion. Just extra glimmer. I haven’t even looked to see what it costs to pull them from collections to see if it’s worth buying hundreds to store glimmer.

Thank you for the helpful reply.

Tbh, one menagerie run nets you about 10~k glimmer.
