Not quite related but a hard ticket PSA
They stopped putting bar codes on the hard tickets this year. There is now a white round sticker on the back which has an RFID code which gets scanned.
In addition to all the above (correct comments) that with a hard ticket you are still at risk that the electronic tickets could be used (earlier to your entrance, invalidating your tickets) or electronically transferred (also invalidating the hard tickets), you now also need to make sure there is such a sticker on the back of the hard tickets. A hard ticket with no sticker is guaranteed to be worthless
Gotcha thanks a lot. I did pick up my tickets to 3 other games today from 2 of my other sellers that I know are legit, so I can compare to that.
Through the patriots app... you can transfer tickets through the apple wallet .... they changed the ticket scanning procedure at the stadium it’s a tap system with A CHIP in each ticket
There is a way to transfer tickets electronically, it can done through email from the STM's online account or through the Gillette Stadium app. This would actaully be more secure than accepting the hard tickets. The ticket owner could transfer the tickets electronically, causing the bar codes on the hard tickets to be invalid, and you would not know this until you try to enter the stadium with the hard ticket.
Exactly what I was thinking, but wanted to confirm that my thinking was right. So I’ll receive an email that indicates that it’s from his season ticket account. I’m assuming it should either be from the patriots or from Ticketmaster. And once I accept the tickets, they’re mine, right? I thought I had heard once that they could somehow still cancel the tickets, which seems a little concerning. Do you know anything about that?
Thanks btw
Once you accept the tickets sent to you by the STM through Ticketmaster, they are yours. The STM cannot reclaim them or cancel the xfer.
What 'could' happen to hard tickets...they could become invalid if the STM transferred them through the exchange. I doubt you will ever see that though, as the STM would quickly become null & void with Patriots Ticket office for doing that.
No more PDF tickets this year, all electronic to try and cut down on the scamming. Hoping that works.
I don't think you can cancel the trasfer once you do it, but am not sure on that. Hopefully someone else can confirm.
I am wary of buying tickets from anywhere outside of the Ticketmaster resale market, as that is certainly the easiest way for a STM to list and sell their unwanted tickets with no risk. Maybe someone goes the Craigslist route to avoid the TM fees, but if you sell your tickets outside the TM site you assume the risk if the buyer acts like a jackass.
Certainly. But I’ve had quite a bit of success over the last 5 years from this. I’ve purchased 3-4 games every year, including at least one playoff game, and haven’t gotten scammed. I’m just quite careful. And I’ve saved thousands over the years now. It’s the way to go if you can find the right people.
