Rage thread: Just let it all out!

--THIS IS A RAGE THREAD FOR PEOPLE TO VENT THEIR RAGE--

Here is my rage. It does not apply to fellow ROFLers.

I am tired of solo queue players. I try to be nice and suggest things to them, constructively and without appearing to be patronising, condescending or unduly critical. I firmly believe in helping my fellow player better themselves, just as I am committed to bettering my own gameplay.

HOWEVER YOUR K/D RATIO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW WELL YOU PLAYED! A good player balances the needs of the team with their own desire to have a pro score. A good player ties up the enemies 4 man push so your team can regroup. A good player gets involved in team fights, not waiting on the sidelines to clean up the mess and reduce the risk of getting a death on your score. AND FOR FUCKS SAKE! A GOOD PLAYER PICKS HIS CHAMPION TO COMPLEMENT THE TEAM! STOP FUCKING PICKING YOUR FAVOURITE CHAMPION WHEN IT BRINGS NOTHING TO THE FUCKING GAME! I AM LOOKING AT YOU PEOPLE WHO PICK A MELEE CARRY WHEN THE TEAM ALREADY HAS TWO! PEOPLE THAT PICK FOURTH CHAMPION WITHOUT CC TO COMPLEMENT THE TEAM WITHOUT CC!

Just stop and think. How can I provide the most benefit to my team. Think like this at champion select. Think like this in lane phase. Think like this in team phase. If you think like this, winning games and getting pro scores will follow.

My story is probably different than most peoples' because I have a buddy who comes over and LANs with me almost every day who is absolutely terrible at these games, but I've learned to deal with it.

I've warned him that he should try to avoid hard carry or solo mid heroes, but alas, he mains Heimer and Teemo.

At the start of the game, he tells me how bad the Shaco is that he's facing at solo mid. I warn him to not get cocky and play safe, but he assures me that the Shaco sucks because he can hardly farm versus a Heimer. 15 minutes into the same game, my buddy STILL thinks he's doing really well because he took down the mid tower by himself as Heimer. At the same point, the other team's Shaco is now 9-0 while my buddy is 0-4, and he won't understand that he singlehandedly lost us the game. He doesn't understand what's wrong with his standard routine. Place turrets and burn mana whenever possible, auto attack hard to the tower, then try to finish it as fast as possible with turret/concussion spam. The 9-0 Shaco's first 4 kills were all on my buddy when he's pushed up to their tower, and he still won't comprehend why auto attacking is bad. I've explained to him dozens of times why auto-attacking is bad. It forces a push, leaves you vulnerable, gets you and your lane mate less creep kills, etc., but no, all he'll do is auto-attack. The funny thing is, so many games he'll come out with more creep kills than anyone else, regardless of how terrible his score is. He manages to get so many kills because he'll auto-attack solo push all the way up a lane until he dies, regardless of how late in the game it is. The reason why it works so well for him is because the other team can't believe he'll be stupid enough to push so far by himself, so they don't bother ganking him until he's at their base. So really, his main tactic for success is to play even dumber than the other team thinks he could possibly play. It only works for him because the rest of us develop habits that help us beat good players. One of those habits is to not commit several of your champions to ganking a solo pushing champion if we believe the enemy champion will run away before we get there. So my buddy doesn't get ganked because the enemies assume he will run, even though he's not considering any of this and has no plan to run.

He never looks at the minimap, never really pays attention to external distractions outside his laning. Seriously, it's amazing how many times we'll be like 45 minutes into a game and I'll glance at the minimap to see him solo pushing a base tower while I just can't believe what I'm seeing. I'll almost always say something like "man, there's 5 missing and you're solo pushing their base this late into the game? you should probably get back" to which he replies "no, hold on, I've almost got this tower". Like clockwork, exactly 2 seconds later, there'll be 3 enemies popping out behind him and he dies. I tell him that even if he did manage to kill the tower, it still would hardly be worth the suicide, because now they're storming our mid with a man advantage. Of course, to him it was always worth it. Even when he doesn't kill the tower while suiciding (usually), he still claims it's worth it: "so I died, but I almost got their tower". Even his screen positioning is terrible. He won't move it around once during a creep wave and apparently he likes to play with awkward views (he'll put the creep save at the corner of his screen and can't even see the enemy heroes standing right behind it). Inevitably, some opportunity for a kill will present itself and I'll be all over it with a verbal "here we go". I'll do some huge 1v2 fight right behind the creep wave, then die without getting any help from my buddy. I look over at his screen to find that he has no idea that anything even just happened because his view is so awkward that he can't see anything. Apparently he gets into some zone or something because he usually won't notice my verbal comments, my rapid mouse clicking, my keyboard mashing, my posture correction, my health bar, or the fact that every other hero just disappeared off his screen. I usually won't initiate unless there's a sure advantage, but that advantage is almost always nonexistant when my teammate doesn't help me, turning 2 easy kills into my own death.

It'll be the same when he does some crazy 1v4 fight. I ask him "how was that worth it" and of course the answer is "I really hurt two of them". Yeah, he gets 2 guys down to half health, but they just teleport to base, heal up (only if they can't heal up in lane), and come right back, so it's never worth it unless he's killing someone (which doesn't happen, they're just terrible 1v4 situations, not clever ones). Of course, he'll continue to do this under the impression that somehow his "plan" was effective and his death is not as bad as putting 2 heroes at half health.

He loves to hang out in his lane with 50 HP. Whenever I tell him to get back, he says "I know, I was just planting one last mushroom/turret" before he gets back. Except he's used that same line with me at least 100 times. Sometimes I just sit and watch how long he stands there, and he always hangs out indefinitely with 50 HP until I say something, then pretends like my advice is bad because he can plant another turret/mushroom before he gets back. Except if I don't say anything, he never gets back, so it's annoying to even try to help someone that is too proud to accept help.

The worst part is, this guy comes to my house to smoke weed and LAN almost every other day and we've been doing this for a long time. What makes it sad is that we've been doing this with DotA since the time when HoN and LoL didn't even exist. Then we did at least a year of HoN together. After all that, it's still a huge handicap every LoL game I play. Above summoner level 10, he becomes one of the worse players, when he's surely played 1000+ games across all three MOBAs.

Of course, I always try to lane with him, even if it's usually a disadvantage for my early game. I'll often feel supportive and play a Soraka, Taric, Kayle, or Nidalee with my buddy's carry, but those games usually turn out even worse as I can't use my "hard carry rambo" strategy to make up for my buddy's noobness. I would love for him to adopt one of those healers as a main. I'm going on at least 4 years of experience with these MOBA games, and even though I only recently hit 30, I still can't believe the terrible gamesense of some of the random people I play with. That being said, if he would main a healer while I play hard carries, he could do nothing aside from healing me all game and we'd pull out a lot of victories, but alas, he won't play a healer and I've never really felt like asking him to do so (because it's hard to explain to him why he should play a healer without using the words "you're bad").

He knows about guides, but has never read one for any game (DotA, HoN, or LoL). He knows about competitive VOD's, but the most he'll see of one is from the occasional glimpse at my screen. He knows about patch notes, but he'll never read him. He bought Heimer like 4 or 5 patches ago, and he knows that nerfs took place because I told him so, but he has no idea what the nerfs are. I've specifically told him that his grenades don't outrange towers anymore, but he still grenades towers and doesn't seem to understand why the towers hit him now.

Remember when you started playing DotA or HoN and the perseverance/sustainer was your first core item on most heroes? He is still that person. He absolutely loves regeneration (health or mana). I've explained rather clearly why it's bad. Like, yes, it's helping him get more creep kills during the laning phase because he can spam more. But then a fight happens, our lane opponents rush us, he dies quickly, and then I die after. I point out that, during the actual hero fight, his regen did almost absolutely nothing for him, while the enemy's Doran's Shield let him take an extra concussion grenade and some auto attacks without dying. On top of that, I'm not sure what to think of his latest trend. He's replaced the initial regen items on some heroes (like Teemo) with life leech, I assume so he can build a Bloodthirster that much quicker. Yeah, life leech has a good synergy with auto attacking, but I think I'd still rather him pick up a Regrowth Pendant or Doran's Shield first. Oh yea, his standard build for Heimer is boots, then 5 archangels, then sell the boots for a Zhonya's. It's amazing how many games he'll totally skip the boots all game. I'll see him at like 45 minutes with 3 archangels and not even the movespeed 1 boots. My absolute favourite "oh my god" moment is when he picks Teemo and informs me that he's doing his tank build. Yes, he actually has a set tank build for Teemo. I told him that even if he buys tank items on Teemo, Teemo is not a tank, but he still does it. I wish I could tell you exactly what terrible items are in this tank build, but I'm not sure. The other day he picked Teemo and during the loading screen I made a comment about how we have no tanks, which I instantly regretted as I was saying it. Sure enough, he says "don't worry, I got this".

On top of stacking regeneration, he's got teleport/heal as summoner spells in almost every game, which seems redundant with all the regen. Like, either get regen and useful summoner spells, or get teleport and get some useful items. I've also explained that heal is bad because it doesn't scale into late game, but he still loves it. Perhaps the summoner spells are my fault, because when he first started Heimer I told him that teleport/heal was a good combo for Heimer (teleport to turrets, heal turrets).

He never changes his masteries between games. This is a position he's set on, so I don't complain. Basically, he picked his masteries once, and hasn't changed them since.

The only "good" thing I've seen him doing recently is listening to the item recommendations I'm passing on from the advice of Redditors. Believe it or not, I actually got him to stop buying Warmogs, Malady, Greaves, and gold/5 items. He's also now aware that Banshee's Veil and Bloodthirster are very efficient, so he's started picking those up more (Bloodthirsters very often on Teemo, sometimes several of them, but he doesn't really main a hero that needs Banshee's).

tl;dr: I LAN daily with someone who is intuitively terrible at gaming. I love playing with the guy, and I consider it good practice for solo queue to play with him every game, but I've avoided raging about it for 4 years until now. </rage>

Upvote, upvote, upvote. Your CS is as important or more important than you KDR, ffs. Average 20 gold per creep kill, 300 gold per champ kill. Every 15 CS = a champ kill. Farm, more, better.

For redditors: DON'T invite me to play normal games with you if you're not up to par for players above your usual competition. I'm getting tired of joining up with your premade, boosting the average elo, and getting steamrolled because the majority are feeding or unable to hold a lane.

No, getting better opponents doesn't miraculously make you a better player, winning consistently in your own elo bracket does.

It does, but that's the simple truth. I played a 5v5 with Rambo, and the caliber of player I was up against was massively above what I'm used to. It was a good experience, and I thiiink I've learned a few lessons though.

I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted. I agree. I see a lot of Redditors play really, really dumb.

If you constantly have above 6 deaths in games, something is wrong. So instead of fixing it, you do your usual habit of not buying survivability, going off alone, setting yourself up for gankable situations, and of course refusing to buy wards.

I would have to agree, although I typically only accept invites from people I know. There have been a few times I jumped into a random reddit team, and avoided vent... this is for everyone's benefit.

Also ARAM is HOMO.

In all honesty, I just get into these slumps where I no longer get enjoyment from this game.

No matter how well I do, it always seems like it's not well enough. I'm sick of champions with skill shots whos summoners can't hit them to save their lives. Oh you can't aim? Then why the hell did you choose Morgana? Idiot.

Mostly, I'm sick of people who refuse to change their build despite how the enemy is doing. You're playing a kat who ults in and dies immediately? Get another BF sword. God forbid you buy some survivability. That's for other people!

Many people would disagree with me, but if you're dieing with Kat a lot go AP for that health and ability slow. As far as price per damage on her ulti it's relatively the same between AP and AD.

I guess this is a post that I should have a lot to say in but I think we all know by now what to expect in solo queue. My recent rage has been more geared towards new RoFLers who:

a) are douchebags and have no sense of discretion or class.

b) purposefully trolling other RoFLers.

c) talk/chat like they are amazing players but are actually pretty bad.

Oh you play in a way that differs from what I see most players doing? Clearly you suck! I have no concrete evidence of it, but I'm going to assume I'm right right away and not rely on you at all, crippling any possibility of synergy between us!

When I was maining Ezreal, IF someone else called mid AND my lane partner could heal AND it wasn't Soraka, I would buy a mana manipulator. This costs me 75 more gold than the meki pendant I would have otherwise bought and never upgraded, and is equivalent to buying my partner one too, instead of 2 hp pots. I acknowledge this is unusual. Saying "I've never seen mana manip ez before" is fine. "Have you ever played Ez before?" "wtf are you building noob" and them subsequently playing as if I wasn't there and being at full mana the entire laning phase instead of taking advantage of my slight self-nerf for our mutual benefit is fucking retarded.

Can't agree more with the initial post. It's a fucking team game, I don't care if you have a positive K/D score random Twitch player. You don't tell your tank with 20+ assists to stop feeding, back him up you idiot. You don't tell a person to "stop feeding" after they died once. Everyone dies, it's feeding after many deaths to the same player...

If you have trouble in your lane, call it and ask for a swap instead of feeding, and when someone asks for a swap YOU DO IT ! If the team doesn't work together it doesn't win, I don't know how many games I've seen won/lost and it had absolutely nothing to do with how many kills a team has !!

YOU CALLING SOMEONE ON YOUR TEAM A NOOB/FEEDER/IDIOT IS NOT HELPING ANYONE OR ANYTHING, JUST MAKING THEM FEEL WORSE AND PLAY WORSE=LOSE THE GAME ! YOU MAKE IT PERSONAL INSTEAD OF PLAYING AS A TEAM. AND I DON'T CARE IF THAT ENEMY SHACO SAID: "I CAN TAKE YOU SOLO YOU NUB" IN ALL CHAT, DON'T LISTEN AND STAND BY YOUR TEAM !

Losing is an integral part of the game, one team wins, the other loses, facts, deal with them. If you're going to be an asshole to someone every time you lose a game, that makes you a really big asshole a lot of the time.

Solo queue normal games seem like such a luck draw, it's like you go in there, give it your best shot, hope the people on your team are not idiots (or that the other team is) and you win or lose... purely on luck.

And finally ... ... ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER ! DO YOU SPEAK IT ?! (EU server, damn you US server and your 200 ping...)
