I'm confused. Your mom broke down your bedroom door to get a carpet fitted? Or is this the front door?

DutchBirdOP•

this is my bedroom door, and basically the carpet needed to be secured under the door but it couldn’t be done unless the door was open. i was the only one who could unlock it but i was so exhausted from the day before that i just didn’t wake up, and so she kicked it open instead of waiting for me to wake up. sorry for the unclearness lmao.

if you weren’t answering the door but she knew you were in the room she probablt assumed something was wrong with you

DutchBirdOP•

i wondered that too, but when i asked her after, the only thing she was concerned about was the carpet. as i said before she’s not like this so it kinda fucked me up and i went to my dad’s for a while.

Lol wtf... this seems so weird, are you sure she isnt just lying for the shame (i qm not saying ylu are lying or dounting yku just seems to off)

My son is only 9 but once had his door locked and wasn't answering. I'm relatively sane as a parent but you best believe so many scenarios went through my head. Luckily he answered before I could break the door down. And I didn't say a thing to him other than dinner was ready.

If she's "not usually like this" i guarantee she was just worried. Even if she had only mentioned the carpet.

Omega1424•

Imagine the reverse scenario. Wouldn't you be pissed? If your son rammed the door down for fear of you being hurt? Treat him as a fully functioning, intellectually capable human being.

She probably yelled and banged on the door while you kept sleeping soundly.
She might simply have panicked because you might have died or something.

10
DutchBirdOP•

i totally understand where you’re coming from, and i wondered the same thing but when i asked her about it she basically just said ‘not even someone on drugs could’ve slept through that’, so i guess that’s how that could come off but i think she just wanted her carpet down based on how she was angry more than anything else.

Dantevortex•

When I was a kid I was never allowed to sleep with the door closed, just in case of emergency they wanted to get in.

Of course I was like all "but muh privacy". But it makes sense.

It’s her house. Don’t leave doors locked in houses that you don’t own

-2
DutchBirdOP•

my sister used to do the exact same thing and never got her door kicked down but go off i guess

3
redditaccountuser2•

Think if you owned a house and wanted to do something to a room, but it was locked. It doesn’t matter who is in there, you’re getting in

Found the insane parent who’s kids probably don’t talk to him. ☝🏼

34
ImNotYourKunta•

No, the insane parent would have throttled the kid after gaining entry. Wait, I mean, the insane parent would never allow a kid to have this kind of lock in the first place. The above commenter has a damn good point. You can’t just tell carpet installers “Come back later”. It’s not like mom busted in because she wanted to ask a question. In fact, I think the kid should pay to repair the entryway.

I mean, I wouldn’t kick the door down, but I also wouldn’t accept not getting it finished because OP fucked up.

I’d probably have my husband take the door off the hinges or something. Destroying my own shit is not my deal.

11
Ari-Cole•

I’m with you. That’s the sane thing to do.

4
musicianman32•

Exactly! You must be insane

2
ronathon3364•

the hinges are probably on the inside, to prevent people doing just that to get in. if there were workers there that had a time table, it's a relatively easy fix. Especially if the carpet had to be secured with a specific tool that OPs mom didnt have regular access to, its quicker to fix a door than have to book another appointment.

1
DutchBirdOP•

he was a family friend. he got us a good discount and has done a lot of work for us recently. i know this wasn’t mentioned but it wasn’t some stranger that we were paying full price for. not to mention he was only supposed to be measuring up that day.

3
musicianman32•

Thank you for the additional information. By the way, I wouldn't have kicked the door in as I don't damage my own property. I would have found a way to get in to make sure you were alive, though. My son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and if he didn't answer the door, you better believe I would have found a way in.

PoundTheMeatPuppet•

Jesus fucking christ dude. Eat a snickers. You sound hangry as fuck, ya dick hole.

Seems that OP actually was aware the carpet needed to be put down, and totally understand being tired from a hike and stuff, but your mom probably thought something was wrong after bamming and knocking on your door to wake you up.

I just feel there's something you're leaving out about the situation, OP. You said she's not usually like this, so I'm genuinely confused.

7
DutchBirdOP•

i was aware that the carpet was going to be put down, however had been told that on that day, he was coming to measure up and would be there at 4 pm at the earliest, so i thought i’d be fine. sorry, i couldn’t fit that in the og post. the fact that she’s not usually like that is why i was so fucked up over it happening.

Guess she is buying a new door frame. Jokes on.her

35
[deleted]•

It’s a useless door frame anyway. Look at it. It didn’t keep anyone out.

18

Oh hey is this your mom?

For anybody that can't watch a video at the moment, it's that Fairly Oddparents moment where Timmy's dad respects Timmy's privacy by knocking, but asserts his authority as his parent by coming in anyway... with a battering ram.

the first half of the title gave me a mfin stroke. are you still half asleep?

20
boofingburn•

yea workmen aren't going to hang round waiting for you to wake up. door latch is going to take 2 screws and 5 min to fix. door frame is fine, just cracked paint.

14
Natacakesthefirst•

Nah, that’s definitely a worried parent. She clearly panicked when you didn’t answer. I can totally believe your mum panicked and then probably felt stupid afterwards so decided to keep her cool. I lost a friend who died in her sleep when she was 17. It’s rare, but it does happen, and parents naturally panic in situations like that. I mean, I’ll wake my cat or rabbits up if I can’t see their chests moving for a few seconds. 🤷🏼‍♀️

JudgeMentaI•

When you get it fixed, us 8-9 inch screws to secure the strike plate. Good luck breaking that
