This Spark rugby stream is terrible

Nothing wrong with our internet. But it looks real cagey like something is wrong with the frame rate. So shit. Are others also finding this is the case?

Perfect quality for me with no jitters at all. Hopefully it holds up when there’s increased traffic on the site later tonight!

All good here. There's a small jitter apparent at times, but it's easy enough to ignore.

That slight jitter is the annoying thing though.

Flatmates don't seem to notice it as much as me

Using a pc with ethernet cable ?

Not Ethernet but it doesn't seem to be a download speed issue. Like it's just how it looks maybe? Maybe I'm just not used to watching streamed stuff and it's never going to be the same as satellite tv

Live streams will be more susceptible to jittering caused by network quality because there is no buffer unless you do what DarkReznik said and manually set one by going back a second or so.

Been good up until 15 mins ago with the odd freeze, with a good fibre connection. Just drag the tracking bar to the right of the screen, 1 second buff and its all good again.

I stream a lot of different international sports (some from Japan) and it always happens at some point. It is annoying, but you find ways around/get used to it.

You will also find as the game gets close to the end and Spark starts patching in the feed for the next game it will become unstable for a bit.

Mine seems to drop framerate occasionally, but I'm going from cellphone on wifi to chromecast. I'll give PC connected to ethernet later and see if there's a difference.

Working fine through the Samsung TV app. Quality is really good.

Same. Wouldn't even think it's a live stream.

Screen mirrored on bad VDSL Akl connection. 6.5/10. Not hi res. Occasional freeze. Internet connectuon issues this side tho.

Same here. Fiber internet, good speeds but the quality is average.

The colours seem off and the fps seems subpar.

2
humblebotsOP•

Yeah same, i have a fibre max plan etc

Nearly all the issues on the stream stem from the broadcast feed (universal, well reported ones) or device/connection issue. What device setup are you watching on? I'm on 100 Mb/s down with S9+ android app and chromecast via Gen2 Chromecast working pretty good.

Buffering like hell streaming on Australian site using VPN is better

Not one problem for me so far... can’t fault it!

Mine is terrible on laptop. Phone with the app is perfect though so no idea...

The only time I have issues is when adverts are on, the video freezes while the audio runs underneath. The rugby is buttery smooth which is all I care about.

It's the framerate. Spark lowered it from 50 (I think) to 25 earlier this year. Some TVs are better at handling it than others (via AFR), but generally fast-paced sports are best viewed at 50/60 fps to avoid the jittery effect you're noticing.

We switched to Duke and didn't have a problem

Like the quality is fine but it just looks slightly jittery

Turns out you're the ignorant one, funny that. It was so shit they had to put it on Duke.
