AppRF

Under Traffic Analysis AppRF in the Aruba Controller (8.3.0.8) - the total traffic number at the top, is that for the amount of bandwidth transmitting through the controllers? I am trying to determine the amount of traffic our wireless network is processing to see if the slowdowns we experience are associated with traffic or if my approach is wrong. Thanks in advance!

The MM/Controllers show the last 15 minutes of data going through the controllers. 8.4.x.x and above, the dashboard is different from 8.3.x.x (much better and easier to understand to be honest) and shows under Dashboard -> overview, the total traffic in the last 15 minutes.

The best way to see overall throughput would be to have the controllers talk to Airwave and run a report. Additionally, if you do not have Airwave you can use a third party program such as Solarwinds Orion, Obsevium, Zenoss, LibreNMS (or some other network monitoring tool that can use SNMP to monitor network devices etc.) for total network throughput.

As far as the total traffic in AppRF, it does categorize a lot of things (I believe more than 1500+ now), however, the total you are looking at is what it could categorize.

Your best bet is to use Airwave (or another SNMP program) to see near real time throughput, and run reports to see throughput over time.

You indeed need a different monitoring tool to troubleshoot your "slowdowns" in your network. The total amount of traffic send and/or received doesn't tell you anything about what happened for example an hour ago.
