Is this another one of those things Viera can't wear
Head replacing helms, viera can wear. Like frog head, pig head, and Chocobo head
Do their ears just poke through?
No, their ears experience an aetherological phaenomena known as spontaneous amputation.
aka, they get smushed up inside the hat.
Because as we all know Viera ears are rigid as bone and can't at all bend.
The werewolf head also magically turns your ears into the wolf ears
Don't forget the Dwarf helms! The best helms in the game with glorious beards.
I'm just excited for the possibility of getting Pod 153 and 042 as minions.
Pod minions are going to be awesome if they drop
a serious hopefully not a rude question.. but why does the guy who did the Neir games wear that weird helmet
Because he doesnt want to be famous.
Edit: These are his exact words
Yoko Taro is usually seen with a huge mask on his head, and during yesterday's conference at PAX East he explained that he believes that authors should not show their face to the public.
It offers an example for that and says that he would be very disappointed if he find out that his favorite erotic novel is written by a middle-aged man.
Doesn't he realize that it makes him even more famous when he does these things wearing that huge helmet? Like his whole thing is, "i dont want to be famous, i dont want to be personally known, i want my work to take centerstage." but meanwhile hes walking around in public with a huge helmet on that screams, "LOOK AT ME!"
And I understand his sentiment, personally the way I dress - I refuse to wear shirts with logos on them, and I refuse to wear shoes with any identifying logos on them either because it deters people from trying to start a conversation. So i totally get where hes coming from, hes just doing it in the dumbest way possible.
Reading the quote, I think it's not strictly about wanting to avoid being famous, but rather wanting to dissociate what he is in real life from his work.
The mask helps because he becomes known as Yoko Taro, that weirdo with the mask; not Yoko Taro the middle-aged Japanese man (along with any assumptions and judgments people might make about his work and its merits based on that fact alone).
Also makes him a lot less likely to get identified just walking around in a mall or something., i'm sure.
Paru Itagaki (the author of Beastars) also does this, except for her it’s a chicken mask.
I expect downvotes because i am questioning something very beloved by the community. I just think that for what he intends, is having the opposite effect. Him being a middle aged Japanese man is less distracting than the current way he is going about it. And lets be honest, when it comes to Japan's entertainment, we almost always expect the normal looking Japanese man to create the most off the wall and insane stuff possible, which is exactly what he does. Looking at someone like Junji Ito for example, you would never expect his kind of work.
That and I think the man probably has like hella anxiety.
But it doesn't make HIM more famous, it makes the entity that is "Yoko Taro" famous. Does that make sense? Superman is famous, Clark Kent is not.
the difference is that without the mask, he can walk around in public without anyone knowing who he is.
look at how often we see people mentioning that they randomly run into Yoshida in-between hotels and airports whenever he's at conventions for something and they approach him to ask him questions and get photos of him. it's possible Yoko Taro has some anxiety issues and being approached like that may be really off-putting to him, so if nobody knows his face, that won't happen to him, and he can just make his appearances with the mask and do Q&A's and interviews and stuff on his own terms which makes it easier for him to manage.
He’s a weird dude. I get the impression he is extremely shy.
He does seem to have pretty bad social anxiety. During the live letter he was on he had to go backstage and do the rest of the show from back there because it was getting a bit overwhelming. But on top of that he seems to want his work to speak for him rather than being a face.
During that live letter, some of his comments about the dev process made him sound socially anxious too.
"Give us some insights to the stories behind the production"
During the development, Yoko Taro were once called by the XIV team to perform from checks on their progress on the YoRHa Dark Apocalypse development. He was then circled by a group of devs involved in the project, and Yoko was really, really embarrassed, and it was his first ever experience involved in a development style like this.
Pretty understandable, really, but still surprising to hear from a successful producer.
I thought he went backstage because he cant wear the helmet too long and didnr want to expose what he looked like.
yeah. I was reading that he used to have a different mask that was cracked at a recent event so had to be replaced, and this was his first time wearing the new one aside from tests. the new one it seems cant be worn as long as he thought without overheating, so he had to bail offscreen
He hates being photographed
Quick question as I am currently not playing ffxiv but i remember seei g these raids coming. Are they are limited thing like and event or are they staying?
It’s permanent content.
As temporary as the void ark and light house raids are.
So permanent
How had it not occurred to me that we'd probably get an Emil headpiece from the YoRHa raids? Oh that makes me so happy.
Minions I want to see, besides the expected Automata ones:
Wind-up Kainé
Wind-up Weiss
I also want a lunar tear head glamour more than I want an Emil head.
I like how that expression says 2 things simultaneously:
1: I've never seen magitek like this. What the hell is it?
And
2: Seriously? Still no hats for viera?
"Where the fuck are the ear holes on this thing?"
There are none. Cause still no hats for viera.
