The Fireworks

So, in watching the movie for the umpteenth time I finally made the effort to decode the fireworks from the scene in Sarah's apartment that we all know to be coded. Like many other people here surely do, I assumed it was Morse code. It's hard to really make it out, but I was able to get a few letters: •- / ••• / -•-• / -• / -•• which is A/S/C/N/D. So, that almost spells "ascend" right? I was pretty excited.

A post* I found after my happy revelation did a better job than I did (having found "I ASCEND NOW") but, I think we can confirm now that the fireworks do in fact say "ASCEND" in Morse code.

Here's an audio clip: https://clyp.it/441qzpyzBetween the C and the N there's a pop dot for the E too.

When Sam says Oh, there's the dash dot of "N". When he says wow there's the dash dash dash of "O". And is followed by dot dash dash for "W".

That gives ASCEND NOW. Does the initial I appear at the start? Time to break out A-B mode on VLC.

When one of the girls in the apartment shows a dress to the pirate and says "Look", that's when the fireworks begin and you can here the dull thud thud of two fireworks taking off, followed by pop pop which is the dot dot meaning "I". From there the rest of it follows, giving "I A S C E N D N O W"

I suspect this is one of the wealthy men signaling his ascension has begun; which is why the girl looks so scared in reading it - she knows the signal because she's already been bought as a future tomb-wife.
