So, in watching the movie for the umpteenth time I finally made the effort to decode the fireworks from the scene in Sarah's apartment that we all know to be coded. Like many other people here surely do, I assumed it was Morse code. It's hard to really make it out, but I was able to get a few letters: •- / ••• / -•-• / -• / -•• which is A/S/C/N/D. So, that almost spells "ascend" right? I was pretty excited.

A post* I found after my happy revelation did a better job than I did (having found "I ASCEND NOW") but, I think we can confirm now that the fireworks do in fact say "ASCEND" in Morse code.

I know the prevailing opinion is that Sam is the Dog Killer, and the clues certainly seem to indicate that, but I have a different thought on the subject: perhaps the Dog Killer doesn't exist.

Certainly Sam is followed by the BEWARE graffiti and mentions of the killer, but I wonder if he isn't haunted by them. We have only one recollection of the actual MO of the killer, when a girl outside the "audition" mentions "it would be awful, to have someone just come up and stab your dog." Sam reacts to this in the numb, recalcitrant way a person with PTSD might. We know this movie follows the events of a devastating and dog-related breakup -- is it not possible that this single event, the dog-st

Mattresses, fed up with being fucked on, shat on, and died on, have decided to seek their revenge on mankind The time is whatever the current time is, on current Earth. Humans have no advance notice or awareness of the downy threat.

Would humanity be able to survive? Assume the average bed would be strong enough to lift and throw an average-sized human. As we all know, an enraged mattress is able to move at a galloping pace of up to 35/kmh for the smaller, more nimble ones. Mattresses can kill in the ways you would expect large, living squares of bedding to.

Mattress victory is human extinction or control of the majority of Earth, human victory is mattress annihilation or containment.

Hey yall, I've lived in the Triangle my whole life so I wouldn't be surprised if I already know everything I'm seeking but here goes:

You guys know where I can find some good, weird shit? I love Arcana and the Pinhook and the Nightlight. I've been to the Maywood a few times, more back when it was Volume 11. I used to hang out at the Brewery too.

My partner and I have just finished the New French Extremity "masterpiece" known as Martyrs. Often hyped and touted as one of the most violent, disturbing and gory films of all time, Martyrs is probably one of Dreadit's favorite works.

I didn't like it. I thought it was boring, gutless, tame, poorly edited, poorly written and... just dull. I thought the religious trappings were cute but sort of shoehorned into a torture porn story that also wasn't disturbing in any way. Raw was better, scarier and more disturbing, and Raw wouldn't scare a child.

I'd love to hear the recommendations of the true horror nerds around these parts. What's truly fucked up? I know, I know Salo,

Hey all, first time posting here so go easy on me if I mess it up at all! I'm going out tonight and don't really have time to go get the haircut I desperately need so I figured I'd drop in and see if you guys had any ideas. It's just a night on the town, movies and cocktails and ramen and stuff, so nothing crazy formal. Any other comments, criticism and advice is appreciated, too! Here are some pictures of myself.

Alright yall, I saw this one as a kid and recently an image from it popped into my head. I think I may have only caught the ending on TV in like, 98, so it's probably around that old. Maybe early 2000s.

Anyway: I'm not super sure of the plot, just that there was some sort of insidious (possibly Lovecraftian) supernatural force taking over a city/small town/something like that. I remember a weird eyeball monster and there was a lot of green slime everywhere, if that helps. At the end, the protagonist and his family escape by plowing a station wagon through a forcefield that's covering the town, but then later there's a twist ending where the parents start kissing and green slime starts

So it's Christmas eve, it's pretty late, and you forgot to get your little cousin anything at all. You know he's into all that kung-fu shit, so you hurry your ass down to Chinatown to pick up some bootlegs and nunchucks.

Hustling down the sidewalk, you nearly break your face open tripping over an ornate wooden box. Curious as to the nature of your inanimate assailant, you decide to check it out. Inside you find not only a small, cooing, furry humanoid (Gizmo, Gremlins) but also:
-A jar of a strong-smelling liquid (Egg Shen's mild invincibility potion/booze, Big Trouble In Little China)
-An octagonal stone with a rooster on it (The Rooster Talisman, from Jackie Chan Adventures

Hey all! I'm planning on bringing a dessert to the family Thanksgiving (I know, I know, but that's what they want from me) and I'd like to really impress. I was thinking of doing a croquembouche (specifically this one: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/croquembouche-recipe.html) but haven't ever done such an elaborate presentation (dessert or otherwise) - does anyone have any tips or advice? Am I being too ambitious? Thanks!

Hey all - like a lot of you, I'm doing a month-long marathon of horror movies for October. I haven't missed a day so far, and I've done a good number of double features... It's been amazing, but I'm slowly running out of ideas. I've been using an RNG to pick a lot of these, but the list from which I choose is getting a little threadbare. Keep in mind that I'm absolutely one of those spooky losers who has an undue reverence for Halloween, so even some of my less-than-perfect favorites haven't made the cut (The Howling, 8 Legged Freaks, Mothra).

So I have most of the upcoming week (starting Monday the 24th) planned out, with:
Oct 25th – Nightmare On Elm Street
Oct 26th – *Re-

Alright, so I just finished Kill List. It was fuckin' awesome except I had trouble understanding a lot of the early dialogue as I was getting used to the main characters' incredibly thick accents. It merited another watch so I'm sure I'll catch a lot more next time.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any more slow-burn "Unsuspecting, Overeager Sap Done In By Mysterious And All-Powerful, Supernatural Cabal That Secretly Comprises Everyone You Know" type movies. It's coming to be one of my favorite tropes. Obviously, by revealing the nature of movie in this case it can spoil the ending.

I've already seen--and mostly loved--the most obvious ones, like Rosemary's Baby, *St
