i7 6700k-compatible motherboard replacement

Troubleshooting

Hello,

I have a failed Gigabyte Z170-HD3 motherboard and am having a hard time finding anything compatible with my CPU to replace it with (in Canada).

I have an intel i7-6700k, GTX1070, and 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. I don't do any overclocking.

Not looking to upgrade anytime soon, just want to maintain current performance.

Any tips would be great!

You gonna have to go used. Z170 are out of production at this point.

You'd be looking for either 100/200-series or a C232/C236 board.

A 6700k is not a bad CPU but now might be a good time to upgrade your CPU as well, especially since 4c/8t CPUs are showing their age already. A Ryzen/or even coffee lake build may be worth considering.

Having said that. Here are some motherboards that are compatible with the 6700k

This build is very very similar to mine and I have a Asus h170 mobo and it’s worked fine for me. I have a i7 6700 zotac 1070 and 16gb ddr4 ram
