Hi all.
I recently had an examination wherein the optometrist found what he called a "membrane" - from my googling later on it seems to be an epiretinal membrane although he never specifically used that term.
During the slit-lamp examination he didn't seem to notice it - it wasn't seen until he looked at the camera images (a whitish region was visible), at which point he gave me an OCT to confirm. It is outside the macula area, my (corrected) vision is fine with no noticeable distortion, and my prescription has been effectively stable for about 5 years.
I think he was a little surprised to find it given my age (30) but otherwise didn't seem to be too concerned beyond giving me an Amsler g
Hi all,
I've got a TP-Link Archer T4E AC1200 PCI-e wireless card installed in a build due to temporary lack of ethernet options.
I'm having trouble getting any level of reasonable performance.
Speeds are limited to around 1-2 Mbps even when positioned right beside the router with strongest possible signal. Similar story goes for using a different network (cellphone hotspot), so I think it's the card itself.
My phone and laptop get more or less full network speeds (~20-30 Mbps) under the same conditions.
EDIT: latest driver from TP-Link is installed, not any different in performance than the default window
Hello,
I have a failed Gigabyte Z170-HD3 motherboard and am having a hard time finding anything compatible with my CPU to replace it with (in Canada).
I have an intel i7-6700k, GTX1070, and 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. I don't do any overclocking.
Not looking to upgrade anytime soon, just want to maintain current performance.
Any tips would be great!
Hi all,
My landlord has given me a notice that they have applied to increase rent above guideline this year. This is a large multi-unit high-rise building.
I have also received a notice of a written hearing with the Ontario Social Justice Tribunal to determine whether or not this will go through.
However, the hearing date is after the date on which my lease switches to month-by-month and the rent increases.
My question is - do i pay the requested rent assuming it will go through?
(The hearing notice shows that it is due to “extraordinary” property tax increase, and it does appear to fit the criteria technically)
Or, do i just pay the guideline increase until i am notified of the off
Hey guys.
I am traveling from Kingston to visit family south of Barrie (actually closer to Alliston) on Thursday.
Of course i can try to time my trip to avoid Toronto rush hour, but alternatively I was wondering if there exists a good route to avoid the 401 through the GTA? Even if it is 30-45 minutes slower on paper it's still appealing.
Maybe just wishful thinking but it would be nice to find a bypass.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.
Hi guys,
The power lift gate on my 2014 nissan rogue is behaving strangely. I can open it with any of the push buttons (on gate, inside cabin, on key fob), but it will not automatically close with the button press.
Given that it works one way, I am guessing the controller is in some kind of confused state but I am not sure how to make it reset itself.
Any advice?
Hello,
I am running windows 10 home edition with the most recent updates installed. I want to completely disable the windows store and web search suggestions/results for the start menu search. Any way to do this at all?
Thanks
Hi PFC.
This is very naive question.
When an offer letter refers to a "base wage", does that exclude benefits plans and the like?
Edit: Thanks guys.
Hey guys. A bit of an obscure one here.
The sentence in question is:
"The introduction of a [non- water equivalent] material into the system causes..."
I'm not sure exactly how to phrase the bracketed section. Options:
-
water nonequivalent
-
non- water equivalent
-
non-water equivalent
-
something else?
The context is scientific / technical writing (academic journal)
Hi guys,
I'm trying to jumpstart a friend's '08 honda fit. When i connect the jumper cables, the car alarm starts going off after about a minute. Pressing the unlock or panic buttons on the key fob didn't stop it.
I am guessing that this is because the battery is quite dead (like, to the point that the key fob doesn't unlock the doors), so the system freaks out when it gets enough power back and realizes that the door has been opened.
For the sake of the neighbours (parked behind an apartment building), is there any way i can stop this from happening or at least quickly stop the alarm?
edit: thanks for the tips guys. ended up getting it to work by locking the door again before connectin
Hi guys, new to the game. I am trying to figure out if i'm mising something... I have synthetics in my empire, have set them to "citizen rights" under the edicts and policies tab, and am playing as a fanatic materialist. However, under the "Species" tab, synths don't show up as having any rights at all. There is no greyed out option, there simply isn't a "set rights" button there, and they don't have anything listed beside their name in the list of species.
Any idea what's up?
Hey, i'm at a loss to figure out why this is happening, but basically, i'm compiling a multi-chapter report (PhD Thesis), wherein i'm adding the chapters using the \include command. however, i always get an "undefined control sequence" error at the first \chapter call (in chapter1.tex) that seems to have no impact (i.e. i can hit enter at the prompt and it goes through and there appears to be no typesetting issues).
anyone run into this before?
###Build Help/Ready: Hey guys.
This build will be used for some scientific computing (medical image reconstruction, not excessively large datasets) as well as gaming.
I'm OK with the current price range, but looking for any glaring inefficiencies or insufficiencies in my selections.
Would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks!

Hey guys,
I've not posted in here before, so I hope this isn't out of place.
I'm not a particularly prolific writer myself, but I consume more than my fair share of stories.
I was just looking to start a bit of a discussion on something that bothers me about a lot of stories: the "excellent, just as I planned" villain. Lately I've found my willingness to suspend my disbelief quite lacking when at every turn, the villain has some sort of countermeasure, or every development of the plot somehow moves them towards their goal until the very end of the story.
First question: I can't quite put my finger on what to call this feeling of annoyance. I suppose it's just general weariness of this
