Prospecting database of choice?

Working for a large insurance brokerage and we are evaluating multiple options for prospecting databases.

The options being presented are: Hoovers, CapitalIQ, Experian, and ZoomInfo.

Looking for the ability to run lists by SIC/type of business and to break out things like employee count, sales, and C level contact info (primarily CFO/Controller/CEO/COO/Risk Manager). Prospecting what we consider middle market accounts, generally 50-10,000 employees, sales from $8mil-$1bil.

I have used ZoomInfo to obtain specific contact info which I think is worthwhile but it may also be obtainable cheaper through using LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

Any thoughts on these systems or any better recommendations?

Hoover’s is a good database if you’re looking for C-level contacts, but I’d still cross check every name against LinkedIn to be sure. Sometimes people move and Hoover’s is slightly behind. I do like the background company data and the subsidiary data and the financial data they have.

LinkedIn is the single accurate data that I’ve found. Since it’s self-reported by each contact, it’s my favorite source.

If you do not care about direct dial numbers, use LinkedIn Sales Navigator and a quick google search for the corporate number where the person is at.

I personally prefer ZoomInfo, though its more expensive than its ever been since the Discover.org acquisition.
