Season four: great? or uncomfortably great?

I can't get over how good this season was. I have liked Mad Men since I started watching it a few years ago. But this season was something else.

Anyone have any moments that stick out to you? Or any disagreeing opinions?

I thought S3 was stronger as a whole but I really did enjoy the things they did in this year. Putting the focus back on the advertising is something I appreciated and missed.

I am also not really sure what they were doing with Sally's storyline, except that it illustrates how childish Betty is.

In particular I liked the whole episode, I think it was in the middle, where it was entirely Don and Peggy. It felt like they really grew that episode. And then Anna died. Thinking back about it, it seems unusual that I'd watch a tv show with two characters for an hour--that seems like old style tv.

Also in particular I remember the part where something's going on in Don's office and we see Peggy peep over the wall.

How about drunk Duck at the awards having to be escorted out.

I think the funniest part had to be when they happened on a bit of a recording of Rodger's memoirs. If I remember correctly, that made me LOL. Was that in the Peggy/Don episode?

That's "The Suitcase", and it was my favorite episode, too. Peggy is my favorite character, she's in an interesting position as the Career Woman, and also as the Woman Caught Between the Establishment and the Counter-Culture.

That was the episode that came to mind for me too.

I definitely think that the seasons have gotten better and better as they have progressed. Season 4 had "The Suitcase"... Season 3 had "Shut the Door. Have a Seat." and so on and so forth. Each season always has a unique feel, and this one felt (at least to me) the most emotionally charged season. There was desperation, courage, isolation...the list can really go on forever.

I have no clue how they do it, but the series is evolving so beautifully.

I always worry when the seasons start of some shows whether it wont live up to the hype or my own expectations and disappoint me. I think that it's safe to say that I don't have to worry about this show anymore...

MAD MEN RULES.

I have to say, anything involving Don and Betty, or Don's Dick Whitman Past generally weighed the show down for me. The office scenes have always been my favorites.

I'm glad Season 4 focused so much more on the office and less on Don's backstory; I thought it was the best season for that reason. Hopefully going forward we'll be rid of Betty completely and no more fretting about Dick Whitman.

For some reason watching that last scene in their old house, some part of me really wanted them to get back together. Even though Betty has just been getting worse and worse, a part of me wanted them to get together. =/

Don's arc is what really made this my favorite season. From rock bottom to marrying his secretary he went through some serious shit. I also thought the was the most fast paced season which I think was a change in the right direction.

I found this season to be the funniest. I miss Don's old receptionist :(

To me season 4 has been the best overall, but s4 finale can't touch s3 finale. Nothing can.
