Stupid question/Don't upvote: Is this reportable?

Other

i played someone on the ladder that seemed way above my level for various reasons that aren't important.

i decided to look at their match history, and for every win (which would take a normal-to-long amount of time) they had a loss that took under 30 seconds.

I didn't go particularly far back, but every single one of their losses was this quick.

Would I be allowed to do that, or is this reportable in some way?

I’d personally just ignore it. You will still be where you are supposed to MMR wise. The higher on the ladder you climb the less you run into it. Just keep working on your game. It’s not a dumb question, it’s frustrating when you work your ass off at such a hard game and you play someone who is past where you are in skill. You’ll surpass him someday because he isn’t working on getting better.

Yea. I agree. But it still always bothered me what they see as the reason for doing this. It just never made any sense to me.

It doesn’t make any sense. I agree. I don’t know where the fun is it. At least not long term. I could see maybe just doing it when you need a break from competitive but why not just go unranked for that? I don’t know.

For sure- I ended up queuing a few times after the match and it was fun.

I do get 'free wins' from this sort of player pretty frequently (plat). I'm not complaining about mmr. I just wish I could get more quality matches!

I can understand that!

probably just quitting games early so they will be matched against easier opponents.

you can report it.

Thanks!

I wasn't sure if it would just waste some moderator's time, and there didn't seem to be a report description/category that lined up with "losing on purpose"

well hard to say if your opponent just tanks to get lower mmr or if your opponent just doesnt like a specific match up and doesn’t care about mmr (e.g. there are people who hate mirrors and hence will leave every mirror they get but play the non mirror ladder games)

I wonder what mmr one would settle on if they intentionally lost to every zerg and protoss, and tried as hard as possible against every terran!

Assuming roughly equal race representation, they would win at most 1/3 of their games, regardless of their level, so the mmr would decrease down to 0 eventually.

I'd say report it. It's for all practical purposes the same as botting, which is a bannable offence. Technically it's also against the rules as the terms and condition states that you have to try to win, whatever that means. Stupidly vague rule, but it's there.

Then again blizz doesn't actually deal with reports, so reporting anything, justified or not, is mostly just for the satisfaction.

Sometimes I dont like playing mirror matches. So I quit, I've been called a smurf before because I drop like 500mmr, I just keep getting mirrors. I think the worst streak I had was like 15 game in a row that were mirrors.
