Room space and a couple of other questions

My son's wanting to get into VR, mainly for games like iRacing (not a game, he keeps telling me), FNAF and beat sabers. We live in a tiny house and he shares a room with his brother. For games like this where there's very little movement, how much space is actually needed?

Also, he has a low profile GT 1030 2gb in his PC, will this be good enough for these games if I move it into a new PC and look into a new gfx card in the future? (i5-9400F, comes with GT710)

Not sure which type of headset to go with yet, still researching but trying to keep prices down

Thanks

Quest is a great option. You don't need a PC at all and there are plenty of options for a little bit of space.

I'd recommend a 1st gen hp wmr

When it comes to the space, for a lot of games its really about his wingspan. At some point, you're going to get carried away by the immersive experience that is VR, and you'll start throwing arms in every direction. So at a minimum, I'd recommend roughly a 5ft by 5ft space. Also agree with earlier comment about looking into quest. The min gpu you can really get by with would be in the range of a GTX 1060 3gb.

Thanks for that. I thought quest didn't run Windows games? Main thing will be iRacing

Ah got it. Correct, quest can not play iRacing. Therefore you'll have to look into pc tethered systems (Rift, Vive, WMR) as well as updating your hardware.
