Preferably you’d talk to both, but if HR is better, than start there. Also, talk to the ETL or a TL of your preferred department, helps for them to know you and be open to the idea of you joining their team.

Honestly I transferred departments on my first day. Talked to my ETL. Not a big deal.

I have sciatica and being in shoes is making it worse. I'm going to the doctor to get a written note or something saying I cant be on the floor bending as much as I do. I honestly wouldn't mind being a cashier or guest service. I just don't know who to talk to once I get the note from the doctor. Would it be HR or my ETL? My HR-ETL is really nice and a lot easier to work with than my ETL.
