What "small things" do you miss from older games?

Discussion

I'm playing Sims 4 right now and it's currently a blizzard outside in the game. It suddenly made me really miss the "look at weather" interaction from the Sims 3. Just a totally innocuous interaction that didn't add much, but made me feel like my Sims were really "living" in their world. What kinds of small, non-game changing things like that do you miss/love in older iterations of the game?

A few off the top of my head: sims spooning each other and cuddling when one of them got into bed, kids running out to hug their parents when they come home from school, teaching kids to drive.

Oh, and Sims wanting to see the ghost of a Sim they were furious with (essentially wanting them to be dead). Also, Sims wishing to resurrect their spouse when they died.

Bands, horses and wants/fears. Whims are insanely subpar so I deactivated them.

Yeah, I hate Sims 4 whims. Sims 3 and 2 both had really good wish systems (2 the best) and 4's just seems like sidequests rather than personality

No matter what type of sims you do they always want a damn beebox or to learn vampire lore... Shut up Kate you’re a suburban mom, why do you need to know anything about vampires 😒

I want bands back. Doesn't even need to be a full career thing, just the option to play songs as a band.

Then again, judging by how often the 'sing as a group' thing goes wrong, I can imagine it being bugged to hell

Sims following group leaders in The Sims 3. They stay close to you and usually don’t walk off to some faraway place like in The Sims 4 :(

Oh and I also really miss the relax option. It’s snowing outside and my sim is reading a good book in bed while listening to a cheesy pop song... it’s a small thing but it adds so much

I miss a few of the dancing animations from Sims 2 like when a kid would dance with a parent they would stand on their shoes, or a couple could slowdance. I also remember the kids and even teens jumping on the couch.

The penguin that came when it snowed in sims 2

Landlines. The newspaper. Pizzas being delivered when my sim ordered them.

In Sims 2 if you want to wallpaper just one wall or for instance half of a room for open plan kitchen/lounge space, you can place one piece at one end of the wall and then one piece at the other end of the wall then put your mouse on any of the sections in between and shift click to fill in the section between the two pieces without it filling the whole room with the same paper. I prefer that to dragging the paper along the wall but it doesn't seem to be a thing you can do in 4.
