Have done that, model number seems to be either super uncommon or I'm just hosed. :/ I'll check again, tho.

Model number was so uncommon because I was misspelling it. Part is on the way! :D

Pull the screen off. Find the model number that's on the back of it and with luck. Order it to exactly match it up.

Hello! I received a free (to me) Q542U with the stipulation that the poor thing's screen has been long dead. 

Looking around, it seems like there aren't exactly a lot of spare screens kicking around - plenty of digitizers, though. Does anyone with more laptop repair experience have any ideas as to where to source one, or am I SOL? 

Or maybe I'm just missing something and should be looking for the screen model number instead, any advice would be useful.
