And before you ask, I've tried the alt-R trick and it does nothing. Ive cleared the cmos, but the bios password is apparently stored in eeprom so there's that.

Turns out, rebuilding this computer was a lot more trouble than it's worth, but is there any chance anyone has any ideas on how to go about like flashing a new bios version? I'm at my wit's end, it's 0430, and I really should be sleeping so any advice would be nice.

Hello! Sorry if this is the wrong sub, but I'm in need of a new screen. I recently posted to r/computerrepair but as it seems this sub gets more traction, I wanted to xpost here as well:

So the story goes I received a free (to me) Q542U with the stipulation that the poor thing's screen has been long dead.

Looking around, it seems like there aren't exactly a lot of spare screens kicking around - plenty of digitizers, though. Does anyone with more laptop repair experience have any ideas as to where to source one, or am I just sorta hosed?

Or maybe I'm just missing something and should be looking for the screen model number instead, any advice would be useful.
