Cups after baby?

I used a MeLuna soft in small and medium before getting pregnant. By February of next year it’ll be time to replace my cups, and while I haven’t gotten a postpartum period yet (I actually haven’t gotten my period since February of 2018, which is pretty wild lol) I’m looking to get a new cup. I just don’t know what kind of cup I should be looking to get now that my body has changed quite a bit. Any advice from anyone who’s been in the same boat? I’m thinking of getting something in silicone this time, since I’d like for the cup to spring open better (my MeLunas required a lot of fiddling down there, and I just don’t have the time or patience for that anymore lol). Probably still on the softer side, just to keep things comfy. There have been a ton of new brands on the market that have come out in the last five years, and I’m not at all updated. Would love to get some recs!

I used a medium MeLuna pre-baby, my flow is now significantly heavier so I upgraded to larger capacity cups. I tried a bunch, the best ones for me have been the rainbow Yuuki large and the Luv Ur Body medium. Other ones I tried were the Super Jennie, Fun Cup, and Hello Cup, as well as several discs (all sizes of Lumma and Ziggy). Discs don't work at all for me, they give me rectal pressure (I get constipated on my period). Super Jennie didn't work for me either, I think the rim was too large. The Fun Cup was comfortable, but not enough capacity (and it was too hard to remove on my high cervix days). I still have my Hello Cup, I use that when my flow is lighter and I'm going to be more active, cause that thing does not move once placed. I also got a Merula OS on my last cycle, I tried it for a day and it worked okay but it was definitely harder to remove than my other cups. Hope that helps!

Everyone's body is different. Take the quiz at Put A Cup In It.

I used to have MeLuna and now I have Lena and it opens way more easily. But I haven't had a baby so no idea if that's relevant to you

Loved my lunette before baby and tried it last month with my first pp period. Definitely did not work for me! I am still pretty tender in some areas (i had severe tearing and reconstruction surgery at 5 months pp, fun times) and struggled getting it out without pain. I got the saalt soft and love it for the time being, but yeah... don’t enjoy fidgeting too much to get it open.

You should probably wait until you get your first pp period so you can figure out if you need a cup with a higher capacity and also measure your cervix bc the height can definitely change after baby. Also, it will help a ton if you can figure out your pelvic floor strength. If you notice your pelvic muscles have weakened, you will probably benefit from a softer cup. If you are very active, a firmer cup is a better option. You really don’t want to end up with a cup you can’t use bc it’s too long or too short or too firm or too soft.
