Part 1: In Spring, A Weather

The sky knew not abatement when upon their watch the wind-clad rains

Kept through the tapered dusk and then poured fourth above the darkened plains;

The grass yet brittle, brown, and dead whose roots for purchase strove below

The mudded hills.

Let it be said that surely as November snow

Did pluck from rigid emerald blades all green with white-gray icy claw,

So too shall March unwind the clock and tempest-etch the ground to thaw.

These dark, adjudicating skies a gavel thus, with steep command:

Oh Winter, cease! Release your ties and wretched grip upon the land!

As night was stacking black on black, this judgment shunted down from high

And Winter’s wisps were pushed on back as curtains called down from the sky.

Of Spring, the gusts and gales sang, of sky-borne fonts and pastures soft:

Crescendos with a thousand bangs these reaping sonics from aloft.

No light the cloud-capped sky could breach from moon or star. No ray could pin

A shadow to the ground. No reach of sound could span above the din.

Black the canvased minutes routed trains of atramentous hours.

Black the lonesome night reached out and then

they

came

— in shapeless towers.

Black their forms pressed downward churning, caravans of dark aflame.

Black their wagons, charred and burning, reckless reckless as they came.

These traveled arks the settled ground embraced, their heat the cracking earth

Soaked in and from their sides a vapor traced their metaled, bloated girth.

These pestilential, rising thermals of their wake presaged of much;

Of fire, ash, of glowing worms of embers writhing in their clutch.

Hastened did the sky beat on-wards, waves of dissolution showers.

Ticking, scraping ever on towards savage, screening, redding hours

Come the dawn a blistered sunrise, gray the light no East could take.

Jaw-less Western great horizons no more could a visage make.

Of rain and ruin don’t forget; this night, the Earth, yes, preface well

This night, oh rivet, weld, and set this night, the night the planet

fell.

Please let me know if my critiques are good enough or if I need to work on their contents more. Thanks! Also, I'm having trouble with the spacing of some of the words: for example, I want "fell" to be on the right, but I don't think reddit will allow me to format it like that.
