soft spot
she never opens her door, never lets a soul in. she keeps her thoughts in a cage like a zookeeper.
she’s tough and mighty, so it seems. she hides in the castle walls, until she looks into his eyes.
in his eyes she sees the pain. a broken home, unloved by his parents.
in his eyes she sees the loneliness. neglected, emotionally abused, used like a toy.
in his eyes she sees a call for help. desperate screams muffled by “stay strong”.
how, then, could she look into his helpless eyes and not want to wrap him in comfort?
she told herself she could never love she muffled her own screams in “i’m fine” but when she looked into his eyes,
she wanted to tell him all of her pain. she wanted to erupt.
he was the only being that drove her insane. her waves clashed when she felt his warmth.
she wanted him with a fire in her chest. but his concerns were above her her skin wasn’t convincing enough.
and the more she wanted him, the more she felt her heart ache. longer every night she lie awake.
every second of every day she felt her chest burn she didn’t know why she was broken she lived in a “perfect world”.
when she looked into her own eyes she was disgusted. she saw her own envy. why can’t she just let them live on in warmth?
