Credit to whoever made it, I did not make this content. Merely cross posting.
Solid south showing up
Louisiana kind of confuses me, but not really. You would think it would be LSU, but the Saints are really the only NFL team from Texas to Georgia. So their following is practically uncontested & goes across even college fanbases.
It just means more
Seems odd that the one Red Sox state isn't even Massachusetts...
I noticed that too! Too many Pats fans in Massachusetts

I'm a little surprised the Bulldogs beat out the Braves honestly. Maybe it's just the rise in UGA's performance over the last decade and a half paired with the decline in baseball's popularity?
Yeah, and I imagine Dawg fans are more vocal so they’re more willing to participate in something like this
In sheer numbers, the Braves' fanbase has to be one of the largest of any sport. It covers pretty much the entire South. But I think the point was to name people's single favorite team and football just simply beats the shit out of baseball in terms of priority in the South.
Yep. If you asked my second favorite team, I would say Braves. My first will always be the Tennessee Volunteers.
Based on Google Trends and Survey Data
lol, don't post this on any sub where they care about sources
I'd put the Packers as the favorite in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. According to my family at least.
I don’t believe for a second that the Saints are more popular than LSU.
My wife is from NOLA, I promise, the Saints are bigger than any college program in the state!
You've got to consider all of the other small schools like ULM, La Tech, don't root for LSU, but they root for the Saints. It might be pretty close, but professional sports doesn't have near the competition.

Southern and Grambling are like cults. Those fans go hard and couldn't care less about LSU.
Pre-Katrina you might have been right, but the second that Steve Gleason's hand hit leather on September 25th, 2006 the entire state of Louisiana became Saint's Country with everything else being 2nd place.
Damn that place got L O U D
I do.
Hello, fellow r/hockey subscriber!
Honestly, I left that sub the same way many of us had an exodus from the sub not to be named here.
The anti-Subban, anti-Preds rhetoric was too much for me following the finals against the Penguins through the series with the Jets the following season.
Fuck the Pens
Go Preds
A bit surprised that Kansas went to the Chiefs instead of the Jayhawks.
Stupid Wildcat fans...
Dodgers more popular than the Lakers?
Yeah ok
Dodgers are way more popular than the Lakers. And aside from that, Golden State would split the NBA voters easily.
LOL @ Virginia and the 3 - 9 Redskins. They couldn't give tickets away a few weeks ago because they weren't worth the cost of the Metro fare or parking. I don't know when this map was made, but I'd say for sure the whole state is the Nationals by now.
Yeah I’m originally from that area and I have never liked the redskins. I suspect there isn’t much consensus for any college team, but the Nats would have been my guess
Lol @ Kentucky
Why?
It's accurate. Leave Louisville, and practically everyone is a Cats fan. (With the rare Hilltopper or other smaller school close to their respective alma mater.)
u/mochajones10 leading the resistance up there
It’s true. Me and one of the deacons at church are the only ones strong in a sea of crimson cats 😂
Delaware loves the Eagles even if PA doesn’t!
I was always wondering what sports teams Alaskans pulled for. Now I know.
Lol @Nevada.
Golden nights going to the finals in their first season definitely made them beloved across the state
Wouldn't have expected anything less than playoffs with the talent they had from that expansion draft. Plus it's their only professional sports team too.
I always thought unc basketball was bigger than the Panthers but I guess Charlotte skews things in its favor, also, this might be a few years old when cam newton was all the rage.
Similar to other state’s, you have UNC / Duke / NC State / Wake all in that area with the majority of their fans all pulling for the Panthers
OURSTATE also glad to see my cubs most popular here

Surprised that the Thunder are more popular than the Sooners
Plenty of people are OSU fans.
Go ahead, throw your vote away on a third party!
Don't blame me I voted for Kodos.
Including me. But i feel like the Sect pales in comparison to them
So am I. I wanna see the numbers here. I guess OSU and OU fans both root for the thunder, but the OU fan base in Oklahoma is pretty damn large. Chesapeake arena sits around 18000 and they can’t fill the stadium this year. OU sits 82000 and sells out every week.
Way more games = harder to sell out. They play 41 home homes as opposed to a couple a year for OU.
Yeah I really really call into question the validity of this map because of that. OU football is king. Even if OSU split the votes I gotta imagine that doesn’t leave a lot of votes for the thunder
