Glyphs and extra damage
Quick question, using a glyph can increase damage by 1D6. If I am using a Glyph of Earth and cast Cenlly Graig, does each stone do an additional 1D6 or just a 1D6 to the first stone that hits?

Cenlly Graig
STA Cost: 3
Effect: Cenlly Graig hurls sharp stones at your opponent. For every point you roll above your opponent’s defense (maximum 10) you deal 1d6 damage. Each roll counts as its own attack.
Glyph of Earth
When wearing this armor, either your spell DCs rise by 3 or your spell damage increases by 1d6. This applies only to earth spells.
I'd say its an additional 1d6 total (and this additional 1d6 is also its own attack, since that is how the spell applies its damage). Cenlly Graig does Xd6 damage as a spell, so with the Glyph of Earth, it would do Xd6+1d6 (assuming you hit). For the purposes of hit location (maybe) and armor, each 1d6 is a separate attack, but you don't roll to hit for each one and each one is not a separate instance of the Cenlly Graig spell.
If each 1d6 became 2d6 and your hit was 5 points above your opponent's defense, then you would be doing 5d6+5d6, which is not an "increase of 1d6". I can see how one could read it as each hit doing an additional 1d6, but I don't think that interpretation of the Glyph's text is inline with its intended result.
I agree with you with the exception that the one additional d6 does not become a seperate attack, that was not the intent of glyphs otherwise a firebolt would have to be rolled as an additional attack with 1d6 damage if you had a fire glyph. If you hit with any stone you get 1d6 more damage as the glyph affects the spell as a whole, if you miss with all 10 stones you get nothing.
Does each stone roll to hit? If so I would say yes. If not, I would say it's just an additional 1d6 for the whole spell?
It's one Spell Casting roll, but each stone (up to 10) hits independently.
Man that's a tough spot to make a call on. It seems wild to think it would double the damage of every single strike. I'll see if I can read up when I get home. Maybe a description of the spells damage allocation would help make more sense.

That's the exact text. Not great against a heavily armored person, but if you can get a crit, that's a lot of crits and the effects may stack up enough to be useful even without actual damage getting through.
If the glyph bumps it to 2D6/point over defense, it's just going to slaughter your average unarmored opponent.
With the wording of (each roll is it's own attack) I'd say it does add per dice. It's going to super charge that spell, but it does appear that's how it would function.
As the rules are less than clear on this one, I'd suggest to add the extra damage just to the first hit. I'd apply critical damage only once as well. But you could very well rule differntly. Basically, nobody in my group ever chose that spell, and I've actively played maybe 80 sessions or so and seen maybe 20 characters in action. Thing is, the base spell is useful only in very specific circumstances (you are confident that you can hit by a large margin, and your foe is unarmored), so people choose more generally useful spells. You might want to make that spell more useful, but there are other, similar spells that also generate multiple hits, and some of these might become pretty OP with extra damage on every hit, especially if you go and use multiple glyphs.
Ooh, this is a really good question.
