[Major spoilers] I LOVE this tv show; my favorite of 2019. With that said, here are my issues with the show's logic...

SpoilerTV
  1. Bien. Bien is clearly above average in intelligence. I don't doubt OG Bien could figure out Ozy's password. Nite Owl and Rorschach did, roughly at the same time. But Ozy – world's smartest man – dias didn't vet his refugee workers, monitor his office, and or account for everyone after the squid drop? I'm not the world's smartest man and I would've done that. Furthermore, how did OG Bien leave Antartica?

  2. Becoming a god. Trieu and Keen believe they will keep their principles once they become a god. Umm, people knew Jon before and after his accident. It would be well documented that his powers made him apathetic towards humanity in things like "One-on-One with Dr. Manhattan" or the VVD documentary.

  3. Cyclops Plan. So, Keen and Cyclops realized Dr. M was in Tulsa and jumped to "let's steal his powers." Why would they believe that would be possible, let alone work? Also, 7K dude got teleported, but Angela said "he got zapped" in Ep 8, which most would take as killed.

  4. Dr. M's post-death omniscience. Assuming he is dead, how would Dr. M know Angela would realize the pool and egg are important. Also, how would he know Trieu would be involved. Dr. M was in the Lithium chamber when she reveal her plan to him. On that note...

  5. Dr. M's passivity. In the GN, the only reason Ozy could prevent Dr. M stopping him was blocking precog via Tachyon particles. But in this, he knows most things, but doesn't act accordingly. Before you argue "inevitability," his survival instinct would prevent events unfolding the way they did. Unless, he a) wanted to die, or b) knows he won't.

These are things I saw as universe rule-breaking that made me say, "that doesn't make sense." If someone can rationalize them, let me know. I may add more. These are NOT issues with artistic liberties. That is for later, after some thought.

i think a lot of people missed the 5 seconds where grandpa said the whole thing was dr manhattans idea. he's actually not being passive. he wanted them to kill him. remember how they didnt bother to give the cage a floor and he could just send powers through blood to teleport people? pretty sure he could have gotten away at any time by just going underground.

I didn't miss either of those things. Like I said, it just doesn't make sense unless he was suicidal or wouldn't die. If he wanted to live, he should've.

im agreeing with you that it didnt make sense. im disagreeing that he was passive.

  1. I agree that was weak. Comic Ozzy was incredibly paranoid about possibly being betrayed or found out, hence the "I did it 30 min ago" speech and killing the Comedian. I can't really figure out any way he would have such a simple password aside from maybe disregarding anyone ever wanting to steal his secret cum stash.

  2. Jon didn't immediately become apathetic towards humanity. It took him years and years to get to the state he was in during the "current day" timeline of the GN.

In the meantime, he was with Janey, won the Vietnam War for the US, left Janey and moved on to Laurie. He went from kissing Laurie on rooftops to creating duplicates just to keep her occupied while he was doing other stuff. It was a long transistion.

In addition to that, Keene and Trieu are both massive narcissists. It's 100% within their characterizations to think they can do better.

  1. WRT why they thought it would work? I dunno

Angela's gunman presumably disappeared in a flash of light. Not a stretch to think he'd been disintegrated.

  1. This is one of those things that depends on your interpretation of the ending and exactly what Dr. M passing on his powers means. If Angela did get his powers, does that also mean she gained some or all of his consciousness?

Just the concept of him being able to pass on his powers bothers me somewhat. My understanding of his abilities is that a large part of it is his knowledge of how to put things together, him giving them away to me is a lot like if you gave a random person a green lantern ring. They aren't likely to be able to effectively use it.

  1. For whatever reason, Dr. M set the plan into motion in the first place. His lacking free will makes things really complicated. Did he want to die because he has to? Did he not want to die but has to anyway?
