Todays PlayStation Daily has a Plasma Cannon in 1-3 - ONLY if you don't aggro shopkeepers in 1-2
People tend to like to be told about those dailies that have early crate Plasma cannons, because they're so rare. In fact on the Steam edition, they're seemingly absolutely nonexistent - something about the Steam Daily seed generation reduces the crate PC likelihood from "exceedingly rare" as they are in nondailies, to "absolutely impossible" in Steam dailies.
On the PS, Plasma Cannons can be in crates on dailies. However, there's another deviation between steam and PS dailies that throws a wrench in things. PS dailies from player to player only 'match' level generation until you enter a level with a shop after aggro'ing shoppies. The first time you enter a level that has a shop, that level contents are generated differently for a run in which that shop contains a patrolling-shotgun-toting shopkeeper, relative to a run in which that shopkeeper is completely-docile. Generally speaking the upper part of the level (layers above and same-layer-but-left of the shop) terrain is nearly-identical but the items (gems, chests, gold, crates, damsel) vary wildly - in the lower part of the level (layers below, and same-layer-but-right of the shop), even the terrain is significantly different.
The long and short of it is: if you want today's Plasma Cannon in 1-3, do NOT anger the 1-2 shopkeepers. One of them has a vault full of tasty gems and the other one asks 20k for a jetpack, and either one of those often gets players to start the shoppie war rather than miss out on money opportunity. This time, buy the jetpack (or leave it, but I suggest buying it). Leave the vault alone. Doing so will deliver great rewards.
If you enter 1-3 with happy shoppies, a plasma cannon will be in a crate near mid-level. If you do not, that position in the level will have an emerald instead.
