Any way to get weird of gradient at the top of home screen on Pixel Launcher?
I like the shade of gray Google used for its dark mode in apps, so I use it as my wallpaper on the home and lock screens.
Problem with this is the gray shows a weird flaw within the Google Pixel launcher. There is a weird gradient, artifact looking strip of the top 1/5th of the launcher on the home screen.
This is a software bug/issue, not a hardware defect. I tested this by looking and not finding it on:
-
The lock screen
-
The exact picture in Google photos
-
Apps with a dark gray background
-
If you take a screenshot of the home screen with gradient, you CAN see the gradient in the screenshot
It doesn't appear in any of these.
If you turn on the screen and look at the top of the screen, it's not there. However, if you turn on the screen and then unlock the phone via fingerprint, you can almost see the gradient appear like a notification sliding down.
It's not like some huge flaw or something, but it sucks because it's definitely noticable and annoying to see pop up every time you go to the home screen.

It's not a bug. It's a style choice that Google went with when designing Pixel Launcher. You'll have to install a different launcher if you want to remove that. I suggest Lawnchair Launcher.
Do you have a link on that?
EDIT: that it's a stylistic choice I mean
It's called a scrim, which Google uses to provide background contrast for the status bar icons.
Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.deletescape.lawnchair.plah
Thank you, but I was asking if they had a link that Google purposely has the launcher set up this way
Even 3td party launchers offer it as an option. Depending on your wallpaper and home screen set up, it can help your transparent nav bar and dock or whatever stand out more.
Ah, my bad. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
