That’s a nice stamp.

While the mold seems weird and unnecessary, the encouraging thing is it appears Innova [may have] finally figured out how to do swirly star plastic correctly.

What seems weird and unnecessary about it? Truly curious.

Being described as a slightly faster Firebird seems like a hole no one has in their bag. And I think the Starfire shares the same flight numbers.

I know there's been speculation that Innova and Discmania are trying to make their players use only their discs so they're making molds similar enough to each other (P2 vs Firefly, for example) that each company's pros will switch. If this is supposed to be an Innova PD then I would hope that it isn't a 10/11 speed driver with Firebird stability. I think that's what the Monster or Max was before it went OOP. And are there any Innova players that have bagged or are bagging PDs? Most are bagging Thunderbirds and Firebirds from what I've seen. I just don't know how much interest there is or is going to be for this mold.

Starfire has a kinda weird feeling in the hand, to me. The Invictus feels more comfortable in the hand, and is more overstable.

Speculation does not mean much. I see lots and lots of bullshit information flying around the interwebs, and I'll take it all with a grain of salt until I hear something from a credible source.

Maybe it's not supposed to be anything other than an Invictus.

I carry Firebirds and Thunderbirds in my bag, and still see this being a useful addition. I'm not sure that everyone would benefit from adding it, particularly if the arm speed isn't there, but I think I'll really like it for windy rounds and for longer spike hyzers and flex shots.

Before this release were you using Firebirds for those shots? And were you ever left thinking “this firebird just isn’t fast enough”? That’s the point of my original comment. I’ve never heard someone complain a variety of Firebird can’t cover any of those hyzer shots you described using an Invictus for. The Firebird is a timeless staple is most bags and a little added speed isn’t an improvement, IMO.

This is just Savant part two for me.

Wasn’t Jenkins throwing PDs?

Never taken a ruler to it the Starfire looks to have a much thicker rim than the Orc or PD

Jenkins is sponsored and/or employeed by Discmania so throwing PDs and having a Dark Maul PD a year or so ago makes sense for him.

PD, essentially?

4
pinslayerOP•

Nope. I commented the same below, but the rim is 2 mm wider on the Invictus, and it's much more overstable.

So essentially a new run of monster then? If you've ever thrown them

This is the PD2 right?

3
pinslayerOP•

Nope. Not as wide of a rim as a PD2. Feels like it’s right between Firebird and Destroyer as far as the rim goes. Gonna go get a few throws on it before the sun goes down. Feels pretty beefy though.

Got any updates on the flight?

3
pinslayerOP•

Yes indeed. Update is that it's gonna be going straight into my bag. The description on the website said it's like a faster Firebird, and that seems to be right on the money. Very overstable, but carries quite a bit farther than my Firebirds.

Thank you for the update. Does it have thunderbird distance or is it shorter than that because of the overstability?

It's essentially a PD. Same flight numbers, I'm not sure if it used the same mold bottom as the PD though.

PD uses the Firebird bottom.

pinslayerOP•

I measured the Invictus next to a PD and a Firebird. Rim width on the PD and Firebird is 19 mm, Invictus is at 21 mm.

Flight didn't remind me of a PD at all. Much more overstable.

So it's a PDx then.

1
GoatPaco•

Sounds like it. What's odd is that the PDx is listed at 21mm and the Starfire is listed at 20mm. I thought they had the same mold bottom?

Not sure why but I want one... looks awesome. Curious to hear how it flies.
