I think the the show should've ended in the second last episode
First off, I'd like to recongize how much this show has helped addicted people change and a happy ending is definitely a great thing for that, but from a cinematic standpoint.
I feel like the last episode should've been it, bojacks (maybe another unpopular opinion) last attempt to control someone in his suicide and he should've died there. I think it should've ended with bojack lightly crying, and Diane saying simply "are you ok" and bojack never getting to answer. To let the audience draw their own conclusions on whether or not he finally accepted his death.
No follow ups, now "where are they now" because this is it, the bojack show and it ends with a struggling addict going to his past ways and reaching for his old control (controlling others, whether he intends to or not) as I really feel the last few episodes shown that when in a crisis he really hasn't grown at all, he panics, makes excuses and goes back to all that "PR" shit.
maybe this is a popular or unpopular or completely wrong post, sorry if the title is too spoiler-y I tried to keep as vague as possible. I haven't read much on this subreddit I just thought the second last episode was a really mind bending thing that actually effected me a lot and I think the episode after ruined it, which still having good moments just didn't keep up with the tempo.

I disagree. I get where you're coming from, but I appreciate that they gave the show a coda that didn't feel like a finale. One of the biggest themes of the show is that you really can't model your life after the rhythms of tv shows. I liked that we got a sense that everyone's lives would plod along, we just wouldn't be privy to it.
Similar to you wanting the show to end on a down note that provides closure, I know some people have expressed a desire for the show to have ended with The Face of Depression, which would essentially have been the happy version of the same thing.
The more I think about the ending we got, the more I like it. It was unsatisfying. So is accepting the ramifications of one's life choices and moving forward.
I appreciate the response, and I really agree with your conclusion on how everyone's life just plods on, one of my favorite parts was how I could see how no one was being controlled around bojack anymore and all just had their own lives that could spread into their own wins and losses.
