"The Base" was supposed nazi organization it was their big terrorism bust from 2 or 3 weeks ago. It was revealed that it was run by a government contractor and much like all their other "white nationalist" and "militia" busts from the 90s it was just a bunch of feds faking crimes.

Every single time I read about a 'domestic' terrorist getting arrested it always involved the FBI recruiting some dumb kid and doing all the complicated 'noisey' work which would have got him caught anyway (like buying all the bomb making stuff).

set up fake terror cell. radicalize the guy. give guy fake bomb. arrest him when he goes somewhere with it. big press release.
Most of these guys are just lonely and lost kids, and want something big to believe in. The FBI strolls in and gives them what they want when otherwise they'd just be some nobody kid with no real threat. It's an embarrassment, but they need to be arresting somebody with the hundreds of millions of thousands of domestic warrants they do each year.
Even the NSAs list of "caught" terrorists was super thin. One of the biggest ones was some random cab driver who sent money to pakistan to "fund terrorism". I'm sure his shitty salary really financed a ton of terrorism. In exchange for a total loss of privacy for Americans and any foreigners who interact with Americans via phones or the internet (which is all 100% raw tapped legally).
Reminder that the guys at that Mohammed drawing contest in Texas were there with FBI agents. And the ATF had specifically allowed them to buy their guns when they shouldn't have been able to.
