Yeah I watched him do it again. :) He knew what he was doing.

It's sketch because that slab is straight onto shallow reef. Esp at 17:30 today when it was super low tide. No more than 1ft of water on it.

Ehh...it's more the proximity to the rocks on the inside. It's pretty easy to get washed over them if you bail or get caught in front of the wave. In the barrel you are generally alright.

Deadies wasn't breaking reall yesterday at high tide and it was much smaller. But I still saw this dude get absolutely mangled trying to rock off at winki.

Storm swells are rough when the waves kind of sneak up on you.

I actually copped a minor cheese grater on my rock off but luckily nobody noticed me being a kook.

Yeah that's what I meant with the reef being so close (and shallow). Haven't got the balls to surf Deadmans myself - haven't got the skills or the courage.

Safest place is inside the tube. He should have made it out the back okay.

I’ll take it that there is more than one deadman’s since the one I know is a left.

Surfers aren't great at naming spots. There are probably a few dozen Deadmans around

Yep, this is in Australia. The region has been getting pounded by swell rain and wind the last few days.
