Can anyone ID the 7th pen from the left in this picture (the first black one). I cannot find this specific Pilot Metropolitan style anywhere. My best friend wants it for her birthday - I could buy her a different pen, but she is SO picky and likes this particular one.

Looking at jetpens, it looks like that is the black zig-zag. https://www.jetpens.com/Pilot-Metropolitan-Fountain-Pen-Black-Zigzag-Medium-Nib/pd/10171

good luck in your search

Wow, you found it! Thanks! And you’re right - it looks like that pen is both rare and not available in a fine... ugh. I wish there was some other pen she liked.

A bit more detail (since I guess you can't put text when you post a picture) - I"m looking for info on the 7th pen from the left in this picture - the first black one with the small geometric pattern. I know it's a Pilot Metropolitan (or maybe an MR?), but I cannot find this particular pattern anywhere other than this picture.

This is for a gift for my friend, who is very picky... I have many other nicer/more expensive fountain pens that she's tried, but she says she likes my Pilot Metropolitan (fine nib) the best. I'd like to get it for her for her birthday, but unfortunately she likes the "mystery pen" above and the silver dot version, which only comes in medium point (which she would hate). I've tried all the usual websites and I cannot find this mystery pen anywhere!

Pilot Metropolitan/MR Black Zig Zag.

Unfortunately, that’s a really old picture. Those were the original patterns when the Metro was first introduced many years ago. The zigzag pattern you are looking for was discontinued long ago. Your only hope is to find one on eBay maybe.

Thanks for that info! I think I’m honestly going to just buy the silver dot for her in M and switch out the nib from my Metro that she likes to the silver dot. I am not a medium nib person, but it’ll be a good pen for glitter ink or to let my kids use. The zigzag really does seem to be impossible to find!

It might actually be a pilot cocoon rather than a Metropolitan. It's basically the same pen but it's limited to Japan only. It might come in a few more different styles of patterns
