Can only feel one emotion at a time

Sometimes when I’m sad, I just make myself scared instead cuz I noticed I could only feel one emotion at a time. Anyone else like that?

Isn’t everyone like that? I mean, if you’re sad, you’re sad.. can you be sad & something else? mind you, I can only recognise 5 emotions so hardly an expert on the subject. You should try to fix the sadness rather than replacing it with fear, as that’s essentially swapping depression with anxiety. Neither is good. I aim for “neutral”: no sadness, fear, happiness.. just a neutral state.

I discussed it with other people and they claimed they could feel several emotions all at once. Like being sad and scared and angry at the same time. So I’m just curious.

Wow, I didn’t know that. Can’t even imagine how that may be.

No probably not good to swap depression with anxiety but it’s hard to fix emotions, so I go for the less painful.

That’s true, it’s really hard, but it’s possible. It takes a lot of practice. Things like meditation can help or even therapeutic techniques like CBT/DBT, which can be learnt.. so don’t give up on it. I may not know about people feeling multiple stuff, but I do know one can tame their brain.. well, unless they have some severe mental illnesses, then medication may be needed.

What?? I am confused.

Obviously, you can't have two different emotions at the same time. Cant you?

Sometimes NTs are so weird.. how do they do that? (Still, confused. Not sad, not angry. Only confused)

Just like you can only hear one word at a time, perceive a small area of your vision at one time, etc you can only feel one emotion at a time. The experience people call 'mixed emotions' tends to really be 'strong emotion that they can't make sense of'
