Unsmoked 1978 Comoy's value??
Just got into pipe smoking and I was having a word with my neighbor about expecting my first noncorncob pipe (a random gnarly Morgan Bones) in the mail when he ran into his house and brought out an unsmoked 1978 Comoy's Christmas pipe inside the box, satin sleeve, and with hand dated guarantee papers which he gifted to me because he was given 2 years ago. Id like to smoke this pipe but first I wanted to make sure I squandering a collectible. I was unable to find sales prices of any like pieces. Looking for any ideas on what this thing could be worth??

The reason for the wide variability is that it's unsmoked and has a number of the ephemera with it. A 1978 Comoy's Christmas pipe, on its own, isn't worth that much. They were made in vast quantity. A 1978 pipe with all of the papers and stuff could be a fair bit more, for collectors who like that kind of thing.
Speaking for my own part, I would just smoke that sucker. It's a perfectly nice pipe. Pipes are meant to be smoked. Just don't be an idiot and trash it with a torch lighter. You'll be fine :)

Thank you for the timely information. You are obviously a gentleman as well as a learned scholar. I think I will will be smoking this sucker!. However, im a pipe noob so i think i will set this aside until im a mite more developed of technique and understanding before i flame that turkey. Thanks again for the help my goodmon.
