mangadex.orgI'm starting to feel like this series is going on too long. If it had ended with a confession after Mayu forgave the abusive ex-boyfriend then I would have been satisfied. But now I'm not sure what we're building towards. The main overaching problem spanning over 500 chapters has been resolved and we've checked everything else off the list except their friends getting together and now finding the lipstick. But that doesn't feel like enough to carry the series on its own? I'm just not sure I understand where this is supposed to be going. I'm also a bit disappointed that instead of reveling in the long-overdue confession we're being distracted with this lipstick drama-bait, but I'll have to see where it goes.

It's only 4 panels per chapter. So even 560 chapters barely amounts to anything.
I feel they cleared obstacles leading towards having an official relationship in the past chapters, which I'm very much looking forward to seeing develop. As for the drama, this story has always had elements of (melo)drama, that probably won't change, though I agree a few more fluff-confession-afterglow chapters wouldn't have hurt.

Tomo-chan had almost 700 chapters and it's only 8 volumes long.
It would take like less than 3 hours to read the whole thing.

Does it have to build to anything in particular? The two main characters have finally confessed, now to have them actually interact with each other as a couple.

It doesn't but going from a series with a clear goal to one without feels a bit awkward to me. There has to be some conflict somewhere that we're working to resolve. And unless this lipstick thing explodes into some big drama I feel like at most we're gonna get a "I don't care of you lost it, I still love you" moment. Which is sweet but... Then what? Maybe it's just growing pains for this arc and it'll find it's place as it goes.

Whoops, thanks for pointing that out, haha. I guess it rolling over from 559 to 560 made me think 600 somehow. I'll have to see if I can flair it when I get back to my desktop.
