Apparently, these ones are made in the USA, whereas the ones widely available tend to be made overseas. Can't see any other reason.

AFAIK, BB, Billy Reid and LVC are the only Levis made in the USA anymore. I'd never buy them for those prices, but there is something cool about wearing an American classic thats actually made in the USA. Some people go for that.

some lvc's are made in turkey.

LVCs are actually really awesome if you can get your hands on em. You can find em for well below retail (70-80 bucks) a lot of the time.

From what retailer?

Levis store

Often the american made ones are made in Saipan by chinese anyway, or something like that. Probably not made by real Americans anyway. But not sure in this case.

The tag is different. It's probably that.

you can do better for the price.

Where do you recommend?

Well, here's a decent jean at a decent price...

I've heard of people finding them as cheap as $10 at UO.

Here's another option if you're sz 31 or 32

Or just buy regular Levi's STF. The BB collab look like normal Levi's, and the washes make them look like dad jeans.

Capturing some business from the older businessmen.

A quick google search seems to indicate that Brooks Brothers has custom washes not available elsewhere, and the logo is different. The tagline also says that they're made in the USA of imported fabric, so that may also be a difference (though I know very little about how and where regular Levis are made).

yep, selvedge american denim.

I don't think they're selvedge.

if they aren't then its ridiculous that they charge that much for non-selvedge, unraw denim. (although they do say that the jeans are "dry")

2
ggggbabybabybaby•

It's Brooks Brothers and Levis. You're paying for twice as many labels. :D

well predistressed denim is more expensive because the process of washing and putting whiskers etc is more expensive than raw denim.

there's nothing inherently "special" about selvedge. You don't feel the difference when you wear it. If you don't cuff your jeans you can't see it, and if you do then you're showing about an inch of it - all so other denim "afficionados" can nod knowingly.

It's basically all just marketing bullshit to make you feel special.
