I made these several (6+) years ago through Shapeways. Not something one is going to reproduce on a home 3d printer yet, but thought some of you might appreciate it.

Hah. Skeleton key.
How much did you pay for these? Has to be on the order of hundreds
Glad you like it! The term "skeleton key" was my inspiration for this design. It is hard to see in the pictures, but the skeletal hand is actually holding a small handcuff key. It's all one 3d printed part.
The cost to print these actually wasn't that bad. Shapeways' cost has changed a bit over the years, but around the time I designed them the price was around $25-30 each. It's pretty close to that still give or take a dollar. Shapeways used to offer free shipping for orders over $25 when they first started so I would shoot for that price point in a lot of the models I made through them. The print is 100% solid, but the bones are so thin there is a lot of open air in the design which keeps the cost down in metal 3d printing. I was pushing the limits of their 3D printers since the business end has very thin walls and I had to make a few test pieces to account for metal shrinkage but they turned out way better than I ever expected. I used the meager profits I made from my early Shapeways store to fund the purchase of my first 3d printer years ago. https://www.shapeways.com/shops//bluelinegecko?section=Pet+Tags&s=0
