This is an interesting take on storing/organizing sandpaper

10 days ago I mentioned in a comment that Thingiverse should add a single banner ad to help monetize their traffic and support their web developers and site.
Today I see this on their site redesign (which still loads PAINFULLY slow).
Hey guys, I'm new here. If any of you are interested I created a group to collect 3d printable parts for Thirdgens on Thingiverse. There isn't a ton of files just yet, but I expect that will grow over time as a lot more parts are getting harder to find and are out of production. Keeping them in an easy to find common location should help anyone looking for them.

I also created a collection or parts I found on the site too. This one is slightly more broad since I can add anyone's models to the collection myself (for the group the designers have to join and add their

I printed a lithopane in TPU a little over 2 years ago. I was printing TPU on bare clean glass and while removing it from the bed it fell back down and re-adhered so well I though "I wonder if this will stick to the window". So I tried and lo and behold it works just like a static cling decal. It's been on my window/door now for over 2 years and has never fallen off, even when opening closing the door. Just thought I'd let you guys know in case anyone else wanted to give it a try.
A few key points:
- The glass you print on has to be perfectly clean and smooth. I tried with one printed on a thin a layer of glue that looked and felt extremely smooth but it didn't stick at all to the window e

This was a customer's Lulzbot Taz1 that I rehabbed/upgraded/tuned for him. All that grey speckled stuff on the extruders heatsink, wiring, heatblock, etc is baked on hairspray. It was also coated on the linear rails, limit switches, and other parts of the printer too.
I know some people will swear by using hairspray, and if that is what you want to do it is up to you, but I really caution against it unless you have a removable bed and can spray the surface away from the printer. Who knows the flashpoint and flammability of such a thick layer of hairspray. Even if it is not much of a fire hazard, it most definitely will interfere with heat
I created a modifier mesh and used it to deselect the fuzzy skin option so that the mounting area and Punisher Skull logo would remain smooth while the rest of the grip got the texture. The same technique can be used to create textured grips, tire treads, etc. It is one of my favorite 3D prints to date and looks the least "3D printed" of any part that has come off my printer before any additional finishing work.
