Weekend destinations

Hi,

This Saturday I would love to go on top of some big hill or mountain (possibly with less than 4 hours hike or no hike at all) to admire a breath taking view. I was wondering what would your advice be if asked where to go to make the above happen.

Thanks

Mount Tamalpais views are amazing. Drive to the East Peak parking lot and then it's a half a mile hike to the peak itself.

Mount Diablo also has a parking lot close to the peak.

In the South Bay you have Windy Hill. There's a parking lot on Skyline Blvd. (close to the summit, ~10 minute hike) and another on Portola Rd (1 hour hike each way)

Also in the South Bay you can drive up Mt. Hamilton, there's an observatory at the top with amazing views. There's also Henry Coe State Park, which has a campground with benches and fire pits on top of a mountain, and lots of hiking trails.

South Bay also has Mt. Umunhum.

Thanks for the advise!

It’s not really a trail. There are places to pull off the road and look at an epic view of the bay. If you do want to hike there are trails in Tilden park nearby. Not sure if any of those will have the same view.

Do the creeks to peaks hike. You start at glen creek park and then hike up for about an hour up a LOT of stairs to the top of twin peaks. It's really good exercise and a cool way to see the city. It's windy at the top so bring a windbreaker!
