Wileyfox Swift/Storm dropped from official LineageOS support

From the maintainer: "While these are plenty stable on 16.0, I no longer have the time to devote to them".

Due to the nature of this community, it sometimes happens that support for a device has to be dropped. It is a large commitment to maintain a device, and while it is a shame such a device is not supported anymore, it is understandable why it happens. This does, however, leave the door open for another to learn how to build and maintain LineageOS so that it has a chance to become official again, as I hope will happen with this device. I ask that no one attack or demean the maintainer for making this difficult decision, as doing so would only push them away from maintaining devices in the future, permitting they have the desire and the time.

Using u/meganukebmp's script, I downloaded all the official builds currently available and uploaded them to archive.org here (it may take a few minutes for it to finish up). my spreadsheet has also been updated here.

Hi, folks!

I've used a Wileyfox Swift for about four years now, at least three of which I ran LineageOS on it.

I am honestly sad that it won't be maintained let alone updated anymore: It's been a very reliable and flawless experience, and I would like to thank the maintainer wholeheartedly for turning this rather low-budget 64bit piece of hardware into a fantastic mobile phone!

Thank you for devoting so much time to it, I do appreciate it!

It's always sad a phone is losing a maintainer. But so is LOS. Thank you Maintainer for your dedication. May another one take his place.

Maintainer is dead, long live the Maintainer!

Thanks for keeping this phone up for so long! I really enjoyed this phone so far.

I know it's a bit OT but: What's your plan, crackling users?

For me there is currently no device to move to (small enough, supported by a gapps free rom, dual sim with both cards 4g and ideally user changeable battery).

By the way:

On archive.org I got a little confused as I had always believed that the build for the Swift was "crackling":

You allocated that to the Storm model.

What's the confusion?

A thousand thanks to Maintainer. It has been great having current builds in LOS for this economical phone. Bravo!

Agree with pm_me_great_stuff, this phone is the right size, SIM config, OS and battery setup. Yes, the question is: "What's your plan, crackling users?". To try and answer it:

- Perhaps there is another maintainer waiting in the wings. You would have the gratitude of crackling users. Is it possible to find out how many of us there are?

- Does build your own remain an option now that official support is ended?

You can check how many people are using LineageOS at stats.lineageos.org. Building your own also remains an option for you too.

Thanks, michaelrulesify, much appreciated.

That's almost 1400 people using LOS on the crackling handset.
